During the month of September we honor those who have been affected by and increase awareness of childhood cancer.

43 children are diagnosed in the U.S. with cancer, making it the leading cause of death by disease in children. Currently childhood cancers receive 4% of funding when they deserve so much more.

Let’s spread the word and spread awareness because our fighters need more than 4! 💛🎗️

Merry Christmas Eve! 🎅🏻

We got a special donation from our dear friend and Team Anissa supporter, Cami! She hosted a special get together and asked for toys to be donated to give to the kids at the hospital for Christmas.

A question I always wondered was what were the causes of cancer in children?

Generally speaking, life-style factors (such as smoking, unhealthy diet, and drinking alcohol) and environmental factors (radiation exposure) are some of the causes of cancer.
But life style factors do take years to have that affect on a person’s body, which is why most adults experience cancer due to lifestyle factors.

𝑺𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏?

While reading an article from the American Cancer Society, they state that more research needs to be done in order to find a conclusive answer, but its the changes in genes that cause cancer; whether its inherited (but most childhood cancers are not inherited) or due to gene mutations that happen early on in life. But again, more research is needed to explore the possible links. This is one of the many reasons why we advocate for more funding when it comes to childhood cancer. 4% of funding is not enough when our kids are worth #morethan4! 🎗
