Told to wait for the next deployment, he pitched a cooler of salmon.

A10 pilot Dale Stark tells David Rutherford he heard morale was low down range, so he emailed his commander a Hail Mary: a giant cooler of Alaskan salmon, halibut and elk steaks for an Alaska cookout. He'd sweep floors, do mission planning, anything to get down range.

The reply: "All right, get your a** out here."

He hit play and it was the chief of police.

This is one wild moment from a much bigger story. Former New Jersey cop and Marine veteran Michael Legregni tells David Rutherford what was on the middle school surveillance video: the chief, the lieutenant and the PBA rep watching a car do donuts and reverse burnouts until it blew a tire and rolled. They flipped it back over, couldn't get the tire off, fled the scene, and pretended they were just arriving when he showed up.

And that video was only the beginning. Michael says what came after it took years of his life and tested his marriage and his faith.
