Buckles and Barrels for Bailey 2026. The competition was tough but so was our kiddo and she hung in there with the top of 700+ riders, in the 1D and won checks. What an incredible accomplishment. Never imagined we’d be seeing these times after less than 4 years in this sport. All thanks to God, her amazing horses and training. @bates_barrel_horses_llc @belinda_slayton_bates @blissbates by @teamgourley

As the new school year starts for one kiddo I am realizing I never posted pictures of Carter’s High School graduation from June. Carter graduated with some of the best friends a kid could ask for- at his school and at other neighboring high schools. He graduated with his EMT certification and 21 credit hours over his 4 year Fire Science career pathway. As he navigates his next chapter, he has options but this “kid” has always been one to make good choices and see the big picture beyond his 18 years. So proud of this young adult and his journey ahead! Always one to have fun, I have no doubt he’s going to pick an amazing adventure and shine. by @teamgourley

Hanging onto dreamy summer nights as long as we can. Entering a new chapter with one out of school completely, applying for fire jobs and the other in her second half of high school. It’s wild. I don’t like it. by @teamgourley

Avery had an amazing weekend at the @suerogersxtopgun race. She had two personal records, one on each of her incredible #batesbarrelhorses , placed third in the 1D Top Gun Slot Race, won $4,700 total annnnd amazing prizes to boot.

The race was a huge accomplishment for the whole team who put in months of work to make it happen. The ground at CRC was top notch, safe and fast! @belinda_slayton_bates You really said, “hold my beer, we’re making this years’ race even better” and you did it!

It was so fun and a huge success. It felt like planning a three day long wedding and we’re pretty proud of how it turned out. Hope you all had fun! taken in California Ranch Company by @teamgourley

Super proud of this kid. Carter is graduating high school with 21 college credit hours and 5 certifications towards his goal of being a Firefighter. And as of today, he’s officially an EMT. ⚕️🚑 by @teamgourley

Ticket (left) and Swanky (right). On April 20th we welcomed two new potato chips to our family. For those counting…that made 4 palominos🫣 (that’s for another update though). Swanky, our 3 year old baby, was born on Bliss’ property and has been in training with her ever since. We knew the day he was born that he needed to be part of our family. It was love at first sight. He’s been excelling in his training and is ahead of schedule. Both Bliss and Swanky are over-achievers. 🙌🏻 He’s by Fiesta First Fling and out of one of Fallon Taylor’s amazing Docs Lynx mares. He is super silly and keeps us laughing. We had been dreaming of his homecoming day for so very long. Our surprise guy, Ticket (8), was a last minute purchase from Texas and is such a perfect fit for Avery’s team. Bliss and Belinda saw him listed months before but lost track of him/his listing. Bliss re-found him for us, set up a trial for 9am the next day, vet checked him 2 hours later and we were wiring the owner money all by 2pm that same day. He’s amazing and Bliss knows how to pick them for suuuure! He’s a direct son of Dash Ta Fame out of Frenchman’s Fab Girl and he’s so very nice with a smooth, fast style and is suuuch a sweet guy. We’re so excited to have these two and the future looks very promising and fun…and busy 🙃 by @teamgourley

Senior Prom. Here we are. It all came and went way too fast. I adore who this kid is becoming as an adult and have no doubts in his future and THAT is an amazing feeling. Carter, Enjoy these last weeks of HS and “Don’t Do Dumb Stuff”. You make us so proud and we love you SO much! taken in La Jolla, California by @teamgourley

Happy Heavenly Birthday to my best friend. Heather, your friendship was once in the lifetime. The memories we shared and the adventures we went on in the 9 years could have filled an entire existence. The impact you made on my life and everyone you met will never cease to amaze me. I still talk to you , ask you for advice and want to call you to laugh at memories that pop into my head. I can never thank you enough for rollin’ up on me, braless, in my “new” front yard and coning our family into coming over to your house later that night for “a little get together”, which was actually David’s birthday celebration with your long time friends. Little did we know we’d get along so well and end up spending the next 9 years celebrating every occasion together. So today, and every March 27th I will always thank God for bringing you into this world and into my life. I love you friend! ❤️ by @teamgourley

Last kiddo to go through the permit driving phase. It’s weird going from a season of “firsts” with young kids and now we’re raising awesome little adults. by @teamgourley
