Little shotty from a couple weeks ago.. 1) remember to charge your system on make ready!! The biggest improvement you hear and don't really see, is the biggest lesson learned! Remember when I couldn't hit a slug target to save my life at Generation III gun... I had purchased some inexpensive slugs a couple years ago, they shot pretty well. I used them up checking zero before I left and grabbed from a new, untested flat, and the result was a ton of penalties. My friend Ryan Muller got me some @fiocchiusa slugs, to try again. I had used the 3gun ones, can't find them. Ryan said these were the same minus the coating. I cleaned the hell out of the shotty, came to this match and put them all EXACTLY where I aimed! I would go test the new flat against these, it was not a fluke.. I will not make that mistake again. Thank you Ryan. by @teamhilger

For league tonight they wanted pipsqueaks.. all 22s. So I ran out ruger 22/45 that wears the Masp Industries/@stellararms light 22 suppressor. It was kinda fun. by @teamhilger

That @athlonoptics Midas Beam!! Be it on the @barstoprecision 2011 addressing plate racks pasr 25 yards or on the Genesis, choked hard for some heavy targets.. see the dot, don't move it and touch the trigger. #athlonuprising #loveshooting #letsgoshooting #ridiculouslygoodoptics by @teamhilger

Last local 3gun of the year Saturday, gonna have to keep things at least level. Back to league. Off duty gun. Haven't shot it in couple months... 2 body, 1 head.. not bad. by @teamhilger

No music. Love hearing them repeatedly yelling "HIT" compliments of @stellararms @athlonoptics @elftactical @criterionbarrels . 70 to 150 yds. The Ares 1-10 clarity helped see targets hidden among the trees. by @teamhilger

There is something about rifle plate racks over 100 yards. These were all about 150. Made easier by the @stellararms Executive with the @athlonoptics Ares etr gen II 1-10 and @elftactical apex trigger. This @criterionbarrels 18 in hybrid barr is proving exceptional. Missed were all me rushing. by @teamhilger

Last local 3gun for the year. Pretty decent squad. From old school, to a couple new up and comers, and a couple first timers. Solid match with a couple of hiccups, pulling second overall behind an up and comer. First open. Thank you for the season:

@generation3gunchampionship was the first match with the @stellararms executive with the new @criterionbarrels 18 inch hybrid barrel. 178 to 700 plus yards! That hanging log is not steady, and whe it starts to move it doesn't stop. The @athlonoptics Ares etr gen II 1-10 and @elftactical apex trigger really helped. by @teamhilger

It's been an incredibly busy few weeks! This project started before things went haywire. Testing a new barrel. I new my last one on the @stellararms executive was getting close to the end and I didn't want it dropping mid match. The usual replacement wasn't readily available and started looking for another reputable, yet affordable option. Need the sub m.o.a. guarantee and hopefully longevity. Research led me to @criterionbarrels 18 in hybrid. Similar contour and weight to what I have been using. QPQ treated to extend the life. I made a call and one appears on my steps in a couple days.
Packaged nicely, clean machining, what impressed me most was the pre mounting cleaning. The bore was spotless!! This was the first barrel I have ever mounted that didn't have anything... and I mean ANYTHING show up on the patch pre, and post application of bore cleaner. It was spotless.
Run to Stellar Arms and we mount it. Out for a quick zero. I get both the Ares etr gen II 1-10 and the midas Beam zeroed in under 20 rounds. Try a 5 round 300 yard group, pull one out of the 2.5 in group. Definitely seeing promise. (Also seeing just shy of 50fps increase in velocity in the same batch of ammo at same temperature over the last barrel)
A good cleaning and a good break in and test day. I do find that the barrel wasn't fond of being cold clean... just a few shots and it settled down. It's good cold, cold and clean had a little p.o.i shift. 300 rounds if assorted drills, cooling between magazines. I'm not doing torture testing, pushing to failure, I am looking for practical 3 gun performance. Final 2 tests, heat flex and another accuracy check. I shoot a 300 yd group on steel. I the run a 45 round mag doing positional training off a step ladder at targets 200 yards out, not just dumping, but still generating pretty serious heat. Immediately throw precision ammo back in, prone and trying not to let the rounds bake in the chamber, launch 5 more.. no flex, they are hitting right where the first 5 did at 300‼️ very pleasing.
The last accuracy check after it cooled. 4 hits on 1.3 moa target in a row at 300 yds. And there's still paint on it!! by @teamhilger

Finished @generation3gunchampionship .. for starting off under the the weather, I shot pretty well. D60 malfunction cost me some pretty good time, but not like my shotty slugs‼️ I swear I checked them, shot the correct choke, but i could not hit! So I benched after and this is what happened. Don't know bad batch or what, 70 seconds of penalties for the match. All my penalties for the match except for the flying pistol clay. 🤷 by @teamhilger

Well, I made it to @generation3gunchampionship .. It was touch and go.. An extremely busy couple work weeks, straight into Tatum's wedding and right after the wedding, I caught a bug. In bed all day Wednesday, Thursday I text Colin and said I would survive, to pick me up. Not sure I am 100 percent yet. But this is not a match to miss.
