One sentence. Seven jobs.

One "simple" instruction can hide seven steps. For many pupils with ADHD, that is a lot for working memory to hold, and under pressure it gets harder.

Three small adjustments inside. Try one tomorrow and tell us how it goes.

10:42. Chair over, out of the door.

10:32. One instruction, seven steps, and he got confused at step
two. In a busy classroom, that is easy to miss.

Every incident has a ten minutes earlier. Inclusion is what happens
there.

ADHD support is not one person's job.

A pupil with ADHD meets many adults in one school day. Only one
of them is the SENDCO.

This ADHD Awareness Month we're sharing things every adult in
school can use tomorrow. Follow along, and tag the colleague who
always asks "what is this behaviour telling me?"

Happy World Teachers' Day to all of you.

About ten school weeks left this term. If whole-staff inclusion training is going in your strategy, this is the week to book it at: https://f.mtr.cool/78ucdls8d8

Why now:
• Your inclusion strategy goes on your website by 31 December.
• Inclusion is inspected in its own right, and inspectors can read that strategy before they arrive.
• A dated, whole-staff training plan is the clearest line you can write under "what we will do".

Inclusive Practice: Autism and Inclusive Practice: ADHD, six hours each, with a SEND area in Team Teach Knowledge Hub and 20+ hours of resources afterwards.

Comment DATES and we'll send you what's still available this term. Or go straight to the booking page to book now: teamteach.com/inclusion

Which would your staff ask for first: Inclusive Practice: Autism or Inclusive Practice: ADHD? by @teamteachuk

What if our role isn't to fix behaviour, but to understand and support the person behind it?

When we see behaviour as communication rather than something to be corrected, it changes the questions we ask, the relationships we build and the support we provide. Instead of focusing on "fixing" the individual, we can create environments where people feel safe, understood and able to thrive.

By taking a curious, person-centred approach, we can look beyond the behaviour itself to understand the unmet needs, emotions or experiences that may be driving it. This not only helps reduce conflict but also strengthens trust, connection and long-term positive outcomes.

Our latest blog explores why supporting, rather than fixing, behaviour leads to more meaningful and lasting change.

How can changes in routine affect behaviour over the summer holidays?

While many children and young people look forward to a well-earned break from school, for some, the shift away from familiar routines can bring uncertainty, anxiety and new challenges.

Preparing for these changes doesn't have to wait until the holidays begin. By maintaining supportive relationships, creating opportunities for connection, and providing as much predictability as possible, we can help children and young people feel safe, settled and supported throughout the summer.

When we recognise that all behaviour is communication, we're better equipped to respond with curiosity, understanding and the right support, helping children and young people thrive, both in and out of the classroom.

What does it really take to lead well in today's schools?

In the latest episode of the Team Teach Podcast, Clare is joined by Shaheen Myers, founder of Balance:ed, to explore the human side of school leadership.

Together, they unpack the realities of leading in an increasingly demanding educational landscape, from managing pressure and preventing burnout to creating cultures where both staff and students can thrive.

The conversation explores why wellbeing isn't separate from leadership, it's central to it and offers practical ways leaders can better support themselves, their teams and their wider school community.

Shaheen shares three top tips in the episode:
• It’s ok to look after yourself and to prioritise your own wellbeing.
• Reflect on the role of connection within teams and across your organisation.
• Lean into the ‘humanness’ of your role.

Whether you're leading a team, supporting colleagues or reflecting on your own leadership journey, this episode offers practical insights and fresh perspectives to take into the new school year.
