Last weekend I had 4 of my fighters compete in their fights including my brother Matin. So proud of the hardwork we have put in. Big achievements and some great Learnings. Looking forward to continue Coaching them and Managing them in their careers 💪🏽✨🙏🏽 Matin also won ‘Fight of the night’ award. PCYC Hornsby’s Matin Yazdani returned to competition after almost a year away, stepping into the ring for the 15th time and his first bout in the Elite ranks. The 18-year-old had his older brother and coach Bayan Yaz in his corner.

Across the ring was Crumlin Boxing Club’s Craig Carroll. The 28-year-old, coached by Phil Sutcliffe, was making his first appearance on Australian soil in his eighth bout.

And their contrasting styles made for an absolute cracker of a welterweight contest.

Carroll brought the classic stick-and-move style, with clever shot selection and some excellent counterpunching.

Yazdani took a very different approach. Hands low, stalking his opponent around the ring, slipping and weaving his way into range before letting the power shots go.

Yazdani swept the opening round on all three cards.

Carroll answered by taking the second on all three.

One round apiece. Everything riding on the third.
And even then, the judges couldn’t agree.

The final round was split, with Yazdani doing just enough to get his hand raised — one solitary point separating the pair on the final scorecards.

Two completely different approaches. Neither willing to give an inch. And a contest that could have gone either way right until the final bell.

Take a bow, lads. That was quality.

19-year-old Malachi Hughes from Crumlin Boxing Club takes on 24-year-old Finlay Noice from PCYC Hornsby this Friday night.

Coached by Phil Sutcliffe, the tall, rangy Hughes already has competitive experience across both boxing and Muay Thai and will be looking to put that experience to work under the Paddo lights.

Across the ring, Bayan Yaz-trained Noice will be stepping through the ropes for his amateur debut.

🥊 WOMEN’S 64KG CATCHWEIGHT

26-year-old Vera Jin from PCYC Hornsby takes on 20-year-old Mia Mitchell from Hakan’s Boxing this Friday night.

Coached by Bayan Yaz, Jin will make her amateur debut under the Paddo lights.

Across the ring, Hakan Saglam-trained Mitchell got her first taste of the Paddo in an exhibition bout at Paddo Punch-On 20 in June and returns this Friday chasing her first win.

🥊 MEN’S WELTERWEIGHT BOUT

28-year-old Craig Carroll from Crumlin Boxing Club takes on 18-year-old Matin Yazdani from PCYC Hornsby this Friday night at the Paddo.

Coached by Phil Sutcliffe, Carroll has seven fights behind him but will be stepping through the ropes for his first bout on Australian soil, donning the Crumlin shamrock singlet.

Across the ring, Yazdani returns to competition after almost a year away and steps up for his first fight in the Elite ranks. With 14 bouts already under his belt at just 18, he’s coached by his older brother Bayan Yaz.

A first fight in Australia on one side, a first fight in the Elite ranks on the other. Two very different milestones collide at welterweight this Friday night.
