I tēnei marama ka tahuri mai te kotahi tau tum, hei whakamānawa atu ki ngā kaimahi i manaaki i a koe kei te whai hoki mātou ki Te Waipounamu i te wero hikoi! In honour of our nephew, friend, beautiful curly locked handsome boy Ngarongo we are taking up the 85ks for the month of March challenge to raise funds for Starship Hospital. You can support by walking alongside us, or clicking the link below in the comments and donating to help us raise our target funds! Ahakoa he iti, he pounamu 🤍 We did our first hikoi tonight with your mate, who asked a thousand times “are we almost there” 😂☠️ so to feel our inner child spirits and to honour your adventurous spirit we ended with Gelato & a FAST scooter ride home. You even showed up in a little way shape and form. Those who know, know 🥹 Sending love to my people back home, I know every day is rough, always sending light and Thinking of you all xx #NgarongoKeelan #starshiphospitalnz @starshipfoundation by @teaniwanelson

We grew up wānanga hopping with our parents, always loved the part where you make friends and all hang out. Learning by absorbing the environment you are surrounded by, falling asleep on chairs at night because Wānanga doesn’t always stay within the concept of time that is western but opens and closes when needed. Now his turn begins 🥰 #takuMataamua by @teaniwanelson

@stanwalker I know we missed the cut off, classic case of too many kaupapa and not enough kaikawe. We gave it a go last day of term tho, didnt crack it cause ran out of time so weren’t confident to send 😂 but if these three boys get at least one little moment even just a chur or a kai while you’re here, we will even cook. We’d be grateful 🥰🔥 by @teaniwanelson

I ran this same lag a year ago. I wasn’t the same person a year ago, and this year’s circumstances were definitely different, in a good way.

My cousin hit the nail on the head when he said, “Cuz, never ever did I think you’d be into running.” After I ran the Chch marathon, I chuckled because he knows me well, and never ever did I think I’d be into running either. Yet here we are, my second 10k this year, for nothing but the fun of it 😂

But beneath the surface, it’s more than that for all of us right? In her maiden speech last year, our Ariki said, “MANA MOTUHAKETIA TŌ HAUORA.” Start prioritising your health, and she absolutely modelled that statement. We complain about not living long, yet so often we are the creators of our own genocide, through the things we consume and the things we allow to consume us.

This year she said, “TOA O TE RAUORA.” Some took offence. I didn’t. I love it when someone cares enough about me to pull my ass up, or in their own way say: free yourself from your own shackles. Prioritise the very temple you were gifted to live out this lifetime. Stand steadfast in the tools placed before you by your tīpuna. Sharpen up and look behind you, because no one is coming. You’re it.

So when I hit that 7k mark and start thinking, “What the fuck am I up to?”, I remember that in the end, it is simply what our Ariki said, It’s Mana Motuhaketia tō Hauora. It’s TOA O TE RAUORA in action. #tinorangatiratanga❤️🖤 #manamāoriMotuhake by @teaniwanelson

How are you five soon 🥹 #postiekidsnz @postienz by @teaniwanelson

Mediocre is no longer okay. Sometimes I keep my self well in the comfortable weight zone, but how do you know if you can do it if you don’t just say fuck it let’s give it a go, always a treat having a mate walk alongside you 🔥💪🏾 #fitness #hauora by @teaniwanelson

The only “wpmen should clean” statement you’ll EVER catch me accepting from any man 😂 periodddd. #septembar by @teaniwanelson

My boys, far from perfect, testing the boundaries all the time, no ears and all the ideas 😂 But the small pockets of reciprocity of love in acts of service always stops me in my tracks. Being a mother is no joke, it’s high, it’s lowwwww it’s fast and it’s slow but there is no love higher and no service I would rather be doing than this, with them 🥹🤍 by @teaniwanelson
