It's been a week since we finished our 5th ZAR Intense, and we are still carrying it in our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who made this anniversary so special—with your presence, your voices, your courage, and your generosity.

Some moments stay with us long after the workshop has come to an end.

Looking through these photographs, we find ourselves returning to the days we shared in Brzezinka—days filled with singing, movement, conversations, laughter, silence, and the quiet rhythm of living and working together.

Every edition of ZAR Intense is shaped by the people who gather there. Thank you to everyone who brought their voice, their curiosity, their generosity, and their presence. You made this journey what it was.

A special thank you to Tobiasz Papuczys for capturing these moments with such sensitivity and care.

A few days ago, the fifth edition of ZAR Intense came to an end.

For nearly two weeks, Brzezinka became a place of shared work, listening, singing, movement, silence, and encounter. What emerged there belongs not only to the participants, but to all of us who had the privilege of walking this path together.

This year we welcomed 23 participants from across the world—USA, Greece, Mexico, Italy, Romania, Portugal, Türkiye, Poland, Israel, Armenia, France, Lithuania, and Argentina. Each of you brought your own stories, voices, questions, and presence, weaving them into a living community.

Thank you for your openness, your courage, your generosity, and your trust. Thank you for reminding us that theatre begins with meeting another human being.

We carry these days with us and hope our paths will cross again.

Until then, thank you. ❤️

We would like to introduce you to Ola — our friend and someone without whom we would definitely not
have as much energy during our stay in Brzezinka. She is the one who will make sure that every day we
are well-fed, happy, and ready for the next hours of our shared practice. :)
Ola is a ski instructor, an art lover and traveler, a passionate cook, a great friend of animals (especially
turtles), a kind soul, and simply a wonderful human being.
Ola always puts a lot of heart into everything she does and cares not only about the taste of the food, but
also about the quality of the ingredients and the energy that goes into preparing every meal.
That’s why we are truly happy that she will be joining us once again and becoming part of this year’s ZAR INTENSE adventure! by @teatrzar

Applications for ZAR Intense 2026 are officially closed

We would like to thank everyone who applied this year.

The response to this edition has been truly overwhelming, and we are deeply grateful for the trust, curiosity, and enthusiasm that so many of you have shown towards this work.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any more participants.

One of the core values of ZAR Intense is the possibility of working closely together. We deliberately keep the group small enough to ensure that every participant receives individual attention and can fully engage with the process, the teachers, and the community that emerges during these 13 days.

For this reason, we have reached the maximum number of participants we can responsibly host in Brzezinka.

To everyone who applied: thank you.
To those who will be joining us this July: we look forward to meeting you in the forest.

Early Bird for ZAR Intense 2026 ends tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the last day to apply with the reduced fee of 950€.

This year’s edition marks the 5th anniversary of ZAR Intense — and for the first time, participants will live and work together throughout the entire workshop in Brzezinka, the forest base of the Grotowski Institute.

13 days.
7–8 hours of daily practice.
6 leaders of Teatr ZAR.
2 extraordinary guest teachers.

Polyphonic singing, physical training, improvisation, shared meals, forest walks, evenings by the fire.

We are honored to introduce our second guest teacher for ZAR Intense 2026: Jean-Charles Adami

A master of Corsican polyphonic singing, Jean-Charles Adami carries a powerful vocal tradition rooted in oral transmission, collective listening, and the raw, living presence of the voice.

For many years, he has been in close collaboration with Teatr ZAR, accompanying the ensemble’s research into source traditions and contributing to the development of its unique theatrical language.
At ZAR Intense 2026, he will guide participants into the world of Corsican polyphony where singing becomes a shared act of breath, attention, and resonance.

We are honored to welcome our guest teacher for ZAR Intense 2026: Murat Içlinalça @muraticlinalca  
Born in Istanbul, Murat is one of the leading singers and researchers of Armenian traditional and sacred music.
For many years, Murat has collaborated closely with Teatr ZAR, notably in the creation of the performance Armine, Sister. As a singer and musician, he has performed throughout Europe and beyond, bringing the depth of Armenian sacred tradition into contemporary artistic practice. 
At ZAR Intense 2026, Murat will lead participants into the world of Armenian sacred and traditional singing: into the precision of modal structures, the resonance of collective voice, and the deep connection between sound, memory and presence.

Murat’s work is not only about learning songs. It is about entering a different way of listening, of being together, and of allowing the voice to carry something essential. by @teatrzar
