Set it and forget it.

Style it wet. Set the shape. Throw it under the salon dryer and let the hair do its thing.

Once it’s mostly there, I’ll push it the rest of the way with a diffuser.

I think we’ve been looking at contrast too literally.

Most of the time, we think of contrast as light against dark.

But the more I cut hair, the more I notice it happening somewhere else.

Light - Dark
Hard - Soft
Straight - Curl

In this cut, it’s the perimeter around the ear.

I’m using my shears to create a deliberately hard line around the ear, then allowing that line to soften as it travels around the mastoid.

Nothing dramatic changed.

But your eye notices the transition.

Contrast isn’t always about color.

Sometimes it’s the moment one idea becomes another.
