Amazon just locked Meta's AI out of its store. 🔒

Meta's new agent Muse hit #1 on the App Store within a week of its Sept 8 launch. Then Amazon started blocking it, saying the bot didn't identify itself and handled customer logins. Meta says the logins are kept secure.

But follow the money: Amazon made over $68B from ads last year, and AI agents that shop for you don't scroll past sponsored listings. Meanwhile Amazon runs its own shopping bots. The fight isn't about bots. It's about who owns the checkout.

In January 2025, DeepSeek's R1 launched as a low-cost rival to U.S. AI, and Nvidia lost a record $589B in one day. In August 2026, DeepSeek raised API prices 2.3x–4.5x. According to The Information, its revenue went from about $7M for all of 2025 to a $1B+ annual pace, with a reported 82.9% API gross margin. Now it's raising ~$7.5B at a ~$75B valuation ahead of a planned Shanghai IPO.

Days later, paying subscribers of ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Gemini filed a federal antitrust suit. They argue that when competitors agree together on how fast to improve their products, that's a cartel, whatever it's called.
