After over a year we finally made it back to the show ring. We haven’t stepped foot into the ring since July 2025 and between now and then so many things have happened that has made our return that much more special.

In December I had surgery to repair a torn right hip labrum, FAI reshaping, bursa removal and IT band lengthening. Recovering from that at 41 was ROUGH and things did not go as planned. 4 months into my recovery, shortly after getting back into the saddle, I fell off landing directly onto my surgical hip. This took me back out of the saddle for another 3 months. In that time I moved barns and Mo was struggling to acclimate to his new surroundings and me being largely absent for such a long period of time.
When I got back into the tack for the second time he had become incredibly spooky and afraid of all the jumps. It turns out he thinks the sound of sand and dirt on aluminum standards sound like electricity, snakes, monsters, all the bad things. It took over a month to figure out how to convince him that he doesn’t need to spook at them. He’s still wary but has decided to trust me. At this point we had only been able to do small courses for a couple of weeks before @co_jumpingtour Finale 2 but things had been going well and I came in feeling optimistic despite only having barely been jumping again. We started in the .80s and ended the week doing the 1.05 classic hitting our stretch goal and our super stretch goal. I had no expectations coming in other than a desire to get around the courses and build both our confidence. Our rounds were FAR from perfect but I have never felt so confident and so bonded with my horse than I did last week. It was an incredible feeling to have overcome so much with him. If you know Mo, you know he’s not always the easiest horse but if you can earn his trust you have a formidable partner on your side.

We have our sights set on Desert Circuit and between now and then I’ll be working on being more patient to the fences along with rebuilding strength, symmetry and muscle stamina. Time to hit the gym!!

Super late to the 2016 trend but thought why not do it on the eve of the Lunar New Year to welcome in the year of the horse! Because horses! I'm not Chinese, but that's ok. I hadn't started riding yet, but it was one hell of a year anyway.

A week ago yesterday, I said goodbye to my dear sweet Queenie. She was more than a cat, she was my cornerstone. I picked her up as a kitten off of craigslist at a point in time when life was difficult. I had just turned 24 and J was only about a year old. Queenie was with me through most of my adult life and basically all of J’s. She was there for every major milestone. She watched both of us grow up. Queenie wasn't your ordinary cat. She had the biggest personality and loved to be loved. She wanted to be with her people at all times wherever we were. She was never afraid. This was a cat that never hid from anyone or anything. She was literally the best of the best. I'll never know another one like her. My heart is still so broken, but I am so thankful to have been given the gift of her love.

My dear sweet Queenie, you'll live in my heart forever. Until I see you again.

Two years ago yesterday I posted this clip of my new horse Geronimo. I bought him on my birthday and he was the best gift from the universe. It’s been two incredibly fun years with this sassy little meatball and I’m excited for whatever the years to come have in store for us. Endlessly grateful to Kendal for matching us together and Durango Farms for letting me have him. @banks.performance @durangofarms @durangohorsesales

Mo taking the water treadmill in stride!!! I don’t know if this horse has ever been on a treadmill before but he took right to it his first time in. Let's stop striving to be perfect. That isn't realistic and it hurts us in the process. The only way to learn and grow is to make mistakes. Our brains need errors in order to understand how to correct them. It's a necessary and mandatory process in order to improve. Don't fear mistakes, embrace them as growth. I understand it's easier said than done. I work on it Every. Single. Day.
