Burning Man’s biggest paradox? It rejects commodification — not money.

In 2024, Burning Man Project actually finished around $10.7M in the red, hit by rising production costs and weaker ticket sales.

The experiment isn’t creating a world without money. It’s creating one where money can build the infrastructure — but shouldn’t buy the culture.

Burning Man didn’t simply get bigger.

It had to learn how to survive its own growth.

Today, Black Rock City appears in the desert for just over a week — built by the people who actually live it.

No traditional lineup.
No normal festival structure.
Just camps, art cars, music and a city created from scratch.

Watch until the end to see what makes Burning Man so different from almost any other festival.

And next: who actually pays for all of this? 👀

CLUBS & CAPITALS n. 02 — REX CLUB, PARIS 🇫🇷

What if I told you Paris’ techno temple started under a cinema?

When the Grand Rex opened in 1932, an elegant dancing hall called Le Rêve was already hidden underneath. In 1973, the orchestra disappeared, disco moved in — and the Rex Club was born.

But techno wasn’t next. In 1984, the basement became a stronghold for alternative rock, new wave, punk and funk. Then came the turning point.

1988: a group of English promoters brought acid house from Chicago via Manchester and the Haçienda — even chartering a bus full of British ravers to Paris. Behind the decks? A 21-year-old Laurent Garnier, still playing under the name DJ Pedro. (Rex Club Paris)

By 1992, Garnier’s legendary Wake Up! nights were connecting Paris directly with Detroit. Jeff Mills, Derrick May and Carl Craig followed, while Rex became a home for names that would eventually go global: Daft Punk, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, David Guetta, Justice and many more. (Rex Club Paris)

In 1995, Rex went 100% electronic and turned the DJ booth toward the crowd. In 2006, it pushed the room further with a computer-controlled d&b system featuring 60+ sound diffusion points. (Rex Club Paris)

Then, after celebrating 35 years of electronic music, Rex closed for roughly four months in 2023 for the biggest renovation in its history: upgraded d&b sound, a new modular booth, new lighting and a redesigned room — without abandoning its underground identity. (Rex Club Paris)

And then there’s the capital behind the club.
Paris Île-de-France welcomed 48.7M tourists in 2024, generating €23.4BN in spending — +8% YoY.
Against those numbers, Rex holds just ~800 people — yet has repeatedly ranked among DJ Mag’s top clubs worldwide and attracted international DJs and clubbers for decades

From orchestra → disco → punk → acid house → techno.

Same Paris basement. Almost a century of nightlife history.

❤️ Like if clubs with a real story deserve to survive.

Maybe one of the best Franky Rizardo stories of 2026 isn’t even in this reel. 🪄

One of the weapons in his sets this year was his remix of Everything But The Girl — Missing, made with Pete Tong. It was supposed to be released — until a dispute involving John Summit and Tong put Franky right in the middle.

Rizardo could have released it anyway.

Instead, he stepped out.

He made clear he wasn’t taking sides or pointing fingers; after understanding more about the situation, releasing the track simply didn’t feel right anymore.

The strange part? He was still incredibly proud of it.

So one of his most anticipated remixes will remain a set-only track.

No official release. No streaming campaign.

You’ll have to actually be there when the Wizard decides to play it. 🪄

And somehow, that makes it even more powerful.

From nearly 20 years building his sound to a sold-out Ziggo Dome, Coachella and his own Pacha residency — 2026 feels like Franky Rizardo’s year.

This B2B didn’t start in 2026. It’s almost a 10-year Ibiza story.

Back in 2016, Solomun and Tale Of Us played the final Space closing — 20 hours, around 100 DJs and 15,000 people. Afterwards, Solomun and Tale Of Us kept going at a spontaneous villa afterparty until around noon.

In 2017, the relationship became official on the island: Solomun entered Afterlife, Tale Of Us entered Solomun +1.

Fast-forward to 18 August 2026: Matteo Milleri, now as Anyma, invited Solomun into ÆDEN at [UNVRS] — part of a residency running every Tuesday from June to September.

Different brands. Different scale. Almost a decade of shared Ibiza history.

A 2,000-year-old Roman theatre hosted Boris Brejcha, Charlotte de Witte, Marlon Hoffstadt, FISHER and more last weekend. 🏛️🔊

But Orange was built for crowds long before electronic music existed.

Constructed under Augustus, the Théâtre Antique d’Orange could hold around 9,000 spectators. Its extraordinary stage wall still rises 37 metres high and stretches 103 metres — one reason UNESCO considers it among the best-preserved great Roman theatres.

After performances disappeared for centuries, the building lived several lives: refuge, defensive outpost, even prison.

Then music returned.

In 1869, performances restarted, beginning the tradition that became the Chorégies d’Orange — France’s oldest festival.

Electronic music entered the picture much later.

In 2018, Cercle put Solomun behind the decks in front of the Roman wall. That set has since passed 30 MILLION YouTube views.

Then POSITIV arrived in 2019, with Boris Brejcha helping open a new electronic chapter.

And Afterlife pushed the contrast even further: Anyma, MRAK, Tale Of Us, Argy and Maceo Plex, with futuristic visuals projected against architecture almost two millennia old.

And it’s far from just POSITIV — today Orange’s 2,000-year-old stage moves between electronic nights, opera, classical music, ballet, orchestral shows and major international artists

2,000 years ago, thousands came here for Roman spectacles.
Today, thousands come here to dance.

Different music. Same stage.

BEFORE THE BOOTH n1 — ARGY 🇬🇷

Today you see Argy playing Tomorrowland, [UNVRS] and bringing NEWORLD to some of the biggest stages in the world.

It can look like another career born with the melodic-techno boom.

Except Argy’s story started 21 years ago.

At 19, Argyris Theofilis left Rhodes for London to study Music Technology. Picture it: new city, one laptop, one speaker, sending demos to labels.

In 2005, at just 20, Love Dose landed on Poker Flat — with Luciano remixing his first proper release. Argy hadn’t even graduated yet.

Then came one of the best stories of his career.

He travelled to DC10 Ibiza hoping to hear Love Dose at Circoloco. DJs played it several times that night.

He left thinking: maybe this is just how it works.

It wasn’t.

Argy later joked that he had to wait 17 YEARS for another record to create that feeling:

TATAKI.

Those 17 years weren’t empty. He released, toured and became Tribal Sessions resident at Sankeys Ibiza in 2015.

And here’s the Argy many people don’t know: alongside club music, he composed for Ferrari, BMW, BVLGARI, Pomellato and Carolina Herrera, and joined songwriting camps with creatives including Virgil Abloh.

Then came the reset.

Ketuvim caught Matteo Milleri’s attention. In 2022, Tataki followed — and introduced a new Argy to millions.

Then the acceleration:

2023 → ARIA
1st Melodic Techno and 2nd overall on Beatport.

2024 → NEW WORLD
A full cinematic universe around his sound.

2026 → ~3.8M Spotify monthly listeners, NEWORLD shows, Tomorrowland and [UNVRS].

Overnight success? Not quite.
