I took my daughter (currently captain of her tennis team!) to see Gaël Monfil’s last match at the #USOpen last week…so excited and proud to be watching the first Afro American to reach the US Open finals since Arthur Ashe, play in the arena of the named in his honor!

Funny, I remember my uncle Horace Rice (who used to play with Brian Sheldon) saying his son would be the next Arthur Ashe. It actually came true… Go #BenShelton!!!

Paying respect to legendary engineer and producer Bob Power. 🎛️

I had the honor of sitting with him inside the Clive Davis Institute recreation of the Beastie Boys Oscilloscope Lab studio, where he shared insights on sound design talking in front of the historic Neve 8078 console. Bob helped shape the sound of early hip hop and the rise of neo-soul with a level of sonic precision that producers still study today.

His fingerprints are on classic records by A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Common, and house innovators Deee-Lite.

Grateful to have documented this moment as part of an educational 360-degree video project with Clive Davis Institute professor Dan Charnas @dcharnas . Rest in power Bob. Your sound changed music.

RIP BOB POWER 🥀

iykyk but he was a god amongst gods. Look him up and explore his CV it’s insane.

Here he is in 2019 talking to @technomecca in a recording studio possibly at NYU about working with @wearedelasoul 🌻

Absolute legend. RIP

PS I dunno what this method of filming this is (360?) but I’m controlling the video w my phone. Pretty neat. The whole interview is really good btw. Just search Bob Power NYU.
