🌺✈️ It’s time to roll. I’ve got work to do!

One last photo of my feet at Honolulu International Airport as I head home to Portland after an unforgettable celebration of six years in remission from stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. ❤️🙏🏻

Hawaii reminded me that cancer treatment and age have changed what my body can do. But accepting limitations isn’t surrender. Sometimes it’s wisdom.

And I’m incredibly grateful to be alive to learn that lesson.

As Tom Petty reminds us, it’s time to hit the road. There’s work waiting!

💙 Passing Oregon’s Free PSA Screening for Men bill.

💙 Building the Oregon Prostate Cancer Coalition to improve early detection and support survivors and caregivers.

💙 Continuing my work as a Consumer Advocate and Mentor with the Department of Defense’s CDMRP cancer research program.

And most importantly, more love, laughter, and adventures with my amazing Mary and our beloved Krew! ❤️🐾

Six years in remission. A lifetime of gratitude. And plenty of work still to do!

🌊🐢 A SMALL AQUARIUM DOING BIG SCIENCE! ❤️

Today at the Waikīkī Aquarium, I met Chris, a marine biologist doing some remarkable work in coral restoration.

I’ve been scuba diving since I was 16, starting in the Florida Keys and South Florida. Over 50-plus years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking destruction of once-vibrant coral reefs.

But learning about their research in coral regrowth and fragmentation gave me something precious: HOPE. 🙏

And I know a little something about hope.

Six years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Thanks to scientific research, I’m here in Hawaiʻi celebrating six years with no evidence of disease!

Just as cancer research gave me hope for my future, Chris and his colleagues are giving me hope for the future of our oceans.

Before leaving, I gave Chris and his assistant one of Mary’s handmade glass pieces featuring a sea turtle, a small thank-you for their dedication and perseverance.

Whether it’s saving lives or saving coral reefs, SCIENCE GIVES US HOPE! ❤️🙏🐢

🌅 From sunrise to sunset… another beautiful day in paradise! 🌴❤️

Started with a spectacular Waikiki sunrise, followed by wonderful fellowship at the 12 Cocoanuts AA meeting, where even a beautiful feathered friend stopped by to say aloha! 🐦🤣

Then off to the amazing Bishop Museum, where the history and culture of Hawaiʻi brought James Michener’s Hawaii, which I’ve been reading, to life in a way no book alone ever could.

And the grand finale? A breathtaking sunset over the Pacific, complete with sailboats silhouetted against that golden Hawaiian sky. ⛵🌅

Six years in remission from stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. More than 25 years in recovery.

Every sunrise is a gift. Every sunset is a blessing. And every day in between is another miracle. ❤️🙏🏻

Life is good. Expect a miracle.

A little Lincoln City therapy! 🌊❤️🐾

Charlotte got to do one of her absolute favorite things — SWIM! 🐕🌊 And Pibb got to do his favorite thing — hunt for crab shells to eat while terrifying us into thinking he’s choking. 🦀😱🤣

But let’s be honest about the REAL reason we went…

MIAMI’S PAYBACK SHELLACKING OF CLEMSON! 🏈🙌🟠🟢

Three years ago, this was me getting ready for my AFib ablation. ❤️

September is both AFib Awareness Month and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month — two subjects I know a little more about than I ever planned to. 😳

Today my heart is doing well, and this month I celebrated SIX YEARS N.E.D. after Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. 🙏

If my story does anything, I hope it gives somebody a nudge:

Take care of your heart.
Take care of your health.
And guys — KNOW YOUR PSA.

I waited too long.

It’s all about the U. ❤️🩸

Another blood donation in the books.

I’m O-negative, which means my red blood cells can be used in emergencies when there may not be time to determine a patient’s blood type. That makes rolling up my sleeve feel like a pretty easy decision.

After everything other people have done to help keep me here over the years, donating blood is one small way I can pay some of that gratitude forward.

You never know who may need it—a cancer patient, someone undergoing surgery, an accident victim, or somebody you love.

If you’re eligible to donate, please consider making an appointment.

Sometimes helping save a life really can be this simple. ❤️

A year ago this month, Health Monitor gave me a microphone to tell my prostate cancer story.

Sometimes I wonder why I’ve been given so many opportunities to tell it when so many other men haven’t.

Then I realized:

Don’t question the microphone. Use it.

Six years after treatment for Stage IV prostate cancer, I’m NED. 🙏🏻

Now I’m using that voice to fight for Free PSA legislation and help build an Oregon Prostate Cancer Coalition.

If my story gets one man to talk to his doctor and get tested, I’ll keep telling it.

Don’t Be Like Ted. Get screened. 💙

PERSEVERANCE. 💙

Seven years ago, I couldn’t have imagined where this journey would take me.

Stage IV prostate cancer.
Treatment. Fear. Recovery.
Mary. Sprite. Yoga. Advocacy.
And eventually… back underwater. 🤿

This month I’m hoping to hear the words:

Six years NED. 🙏🏻

Until then, I keep going.

Don’t be like me.
Get your PSA tested. Don’t wait.

My story is now in Cancer Health.
