YARD - France Debut 2024 (ft. KEXP, Les Transmusicales & Supersonic) (Official Tour Documentary)

A few excerpts from one of my favourite projects, available to view in all its glory on the @yardband YouTube.

It was an absolute privilege to tour with and to get to know the crew back in December of 24’. I had seen the guys perform behind a sea of sweaty dancers in a random pub in Dingle many moons ago and I was immediately hooked by their sound. A collision of techno and punk/noise rock, a match made in heaven to my ears.

Whilst the tour stretched across 3/4 days, it felt like a non stop whirlwind of motion; commuting across the northern regions of France between Paris, Rennes and back.

I sought to translate this frenetic energy into the visual language of the documentary as well as the rhythm of the edit. Drawing upon direct cinema/cinema verite and music docs such as Don’t Look Back, I adopted a fly on the wall, unobtrusive style of shooting, aiming to capture a band at a pivotal moment in their journey, undistracted by the presence of a camera. by @ted_gtye
