Es ist eine äußerst spannende Premiere, wenn die experimentelle Literatin Vera Vorneweg und der Maler Ted Green im Rahmen der Kunstpunkte kooperieren und die Grenzen zwischen ihren künstlerischen Medien überschreiten. Wir haben für Euch schon die ersten Fotos aus dem Atelier! @veravorneweg und @tedgreen97 ✍🏻〰️⏜⏝

In ihrer gemeinsamen Werkserie verbinden Vera und Ted zwei künstlerische Handschriften zu einem Bildraum aus Sprache, Wahrnehmung und Fragment. Ausgangspunkt sind eigens verfasste Straßentexte, die Vera Vorneweg in Handschrift auf großformatige Bildflächen überträgt. Die Texte entstanden im Rahmen ihrer vielfältigen Text-Installationen im öffentlichen Raum und verfolgen den Anspruch, Orte multisensual aufzunehmen und das Erlebte sprachlich zu verdichten.

Ted Green interveniert in diese Textflächen mit organisch anmutenden Aussparungen, die sich rhythmisch wiederholen und Leerstellen erzeugen, welche den Lesefluss unterbrechen. Die gesetzten Lücken wirken wie visuelle Filter: Sichtbarkeit und Unsichtbarkeit treten in ein Wechselspiel, Bedeutungen verschieben sich.

Die Werkserie thematisiert die selektive Wahrnehmung des Menschen wie das gleichzeitige Erfassen und Übersehen, Erinnern und Ausblenden von Erlebnissen. Durch das Zusammenspiel von Sprache und Zufall entsteht ein vielschichtiger Bildraum, der urbane Erfahrung nicht dokumentiert, sondern als fragmentarischen Prozess visualisiert.

Unbedingt vormerken: Bei Vera und Ted trifft Sprache auf Malerei und ihre gemeinsame Arbeit ist beeindruckend und absolut sehenswert!

As the composition unfolds over time, one of the factors I take into account is the visual weight - where is the “mass” of the subject matter resting on the canvas? Often I opt for a top-heavy composition, as if it’s at risk of falling off balance and tumbling down. With this piece, I chose the opposite - after the first week I realized I was subconsciously “wishing” the subject matter would get pushed down and slide off the lower edge, so I just accepted it and continued with that idea in mind.
“Glossy Gala”, 2026, oil, acrylic and spray paint on canvas, 90x80cm (35.5x31.5in).
Randomly selected palette: cadmium yellow light, may green, light blue, burnt umber, cobalt violet imit., ivory black. All marks are in sets of either 4 or 5 iterations.

So great to be able to hang out with one of my closest friends from my earlier LA life, Kent and his wife Michele on their European vacation, here in Düsseldorf 🤩🥳🤘🤣 I feel like we just laughed for 3 days straight 🤩🤣🤣 Did some cool touristy things like visiting the Neanderthal Museum and the Cologne cathedral.
