Just think of everything—big and small—that had to align for this little injured dog from the streets of Iran to unexpectedly become my forever dog, all the way on the other side of the world. It makes you believe in miracles, doesn’t it? ✨

Forever grateful to @maryamsanei44 and all of Pani’s incredible Iranian caregivers and rescuers for saving her.
@asefehh for bringing her to the US to receive the care she desperately needed.
@animalhaven for being such a big part of my life, taking a chance on her, giving her everything she needed, helping countless other animals just like her — and trusting me to be her foster mom, and eventually, forever mom.
@water4dogsnyc and everyone who works or has worked there (especially her therapist Lara!) for giving her the best rehabilitation possible.
To all the people whose names I don’t know but who helped her along the way—thank you.
And finally, to each and every one of you for following along on our journey and loving her so much.
And to my long-time followers who encouraged me (and helped me!) to keep her before I even realized it was meant to be. 💕💕💕

This past week, they spent the last of their funds on dog food. 🥺

@picolinis_animal_rescue is a rescue I’ve worked closely with since moving to Miami. I’ve fostered through them, visited many times, shared their adoptable animals right here on my page, and hosted adoption events with them.

And that story about the 19-year-old dog that Sofia, Picolini’s founder, didn’t even hesitate to help? That has happened more than once.

On more than one occasion I’ve met dogs at our overflowing county shelter and thought, “No one is ever going to choose this dog. They’re too old. Too injured.” And @picolinis_animal_rescue steps right in to help.

They don’t just save these dogs. Sofia completely turns their lives around.

Did you see the two big dogs in my video? When I first met both of them, they were so sick and struggling. When I saw them again months later under @picolinis_animal_rescue’s care, they were like different dogs. Happy, calm, and so much healthier. Even the white parts of their fur were clean, bright, and so healthy again.

That’s the kind of work @picolinis_animal_rescue is doing in a city where the animal rescue problem is enormous.

So when I heard they were struggling financially, I knew I wanted to make a reel of some of the wonderful dogs I’ve known that they’ve helped, and help spread the word in case anyone wants to support some really amazing rescue work being done here in Miami.

Who would have thought rescuing one teeny tiny sparrow would make me fall this in love with birds? 🥹🐦

I’ve been missing my Birdie girl so much while spending the summer in the Midwest, so having the @birdfy_by_netvue Birdfy Bath Pro with Stand has been such a fun way to stay connected to the bird world even while I’m a thousand miles away from her. It’s been a whirlwind past month!! Thank you for being here with us through all of it. I’m taking the month of July off from social media to appreciate all of life’s little moments in real life. Love you guys and see you in a month!

I never taught her this. She just knew. 🥹

I raised Birdie from a featherless nestling, found on the floor of my high-rise building’s garage in Miami Beach.

Against all odds, I raised her, taught her to forage, weathered her for storms, allowed her to spend time observing other wild sparrows, helped her learn to fly, and a whole lot more, before releasing her back into nature once I felt confident she was ready.

She lives in the trees now.
Forages on her own.
Visits sparrow friends.
Survives thunderstorms.
Comes and goes as she pleases.
And lives like she was always meant to live.

And somehow, without me ever teaching her, and even though she’s almost completely wild now, she comes when I call her. 🥹

I can’t fully explain it. But I think this is just what happens when two creatures trust each other implicitly. 🐦🫶🏼✨ by @tedisarah
