We are T-minus one month to Midwest House Summit Ohio, and we got to ask are you Columbus (OH) Curious? Like...even just a little.You probably should be. Here’s a quick list of a few things that have happened there there in the last 60 days:- Anduril Industries won the Air Force contract to build the next generation of autonomous fighter jets — at their Central Ohio campus. First new company to do that since the 1970s.- @oh.dot.io is actively recruiting 100 global AI startups to plant their U.S. flag in Columbus. A Swiss startup flew 20 hours to get there.→ Google put $20B into Ohio infrastructure. Meta followed with $115M for AI workforce.→ R1 Capital just launched as a standalone VC out of @rev1ventures Ventures — explicitly to close the coastal funding gap.They call Columbus “America’s test market” because what works there works everywhere. There’s a moment whenever you’re building something - whether it be an event or a company - when you really don’t know if anyone is going to show up. Its a perilous, keep you up at night moment too because all the other work you might have done can feel pretty pointless if it’s all for an empty room. I used to literally have nightmares about empty chairs, but I’m realizing that I really don’t any more. If anything I had the opposite - not quite as nightmarish - worry for the Midwest House Summit...”did we order enough sandwiches.”When I think about why this is the case, I get filled with gratitude. You see, it’s because we had partners like the Grand Rapids SmartZone, World Business Chicago, the MSU Research Foundation Atomic Object, Barnes & Thornburg LLP, the Crowe X-Lab team, Kalamazoo Forward Ventures, Blumira, Ludus, ground game, Google, Relish Works Silicon Valley Bank Cooley LLP, Michigan Capital Network, Physics of Creativity, Dealroom.co, TechNexus Venture Collaborative, 1871, ID Ventures, and Song United that decided to support a first time Conference that was going to take place the first week of December in West Michigan. We had friends like Nunchi, Spin Travel , Huck Finch™ Studio, Carbon Stories, Vance & Company, ODD Studios & Here Here Market who were down to share their products and talents to enhance everyone’s experience. We had incredible co-hosts like Bamboo, StartMidwest, & Start Garden who were down for the ride despite the fact that the construction had barely settled on the ground and no matter how crazy are plans became. And, most importantly, we had 488 friends who were willing to grab a ticket and come out in the cold to be a part of something bigger than themselves. I don’t have empty chair nightmares anymore because this community again and again has proven that it shows up. For that I could not be more thankful to all y’all. I also could not be more determined to make sure that Midwest House is showing up for this community. With that in mind - let me just say - we’re going to show up big in 2026. by @tedvelie
