Introducing the last of TedxMcMasterU 2026’s performer lineup:

Victoria Miller, Olivia Afonso and Vincent Marchesano, AKA the Victoria Miller Tap Dance Trio!

Victoria Miller is a tap dancer based in Toronto. Her work includes performing, choreographing,
teaching, and live music improvisation. This original piece, entitled “Building Blocks,” is an acapella tap dance piece that showcases both choreography and improvisation, where each dancer plays a rhythm that when layered together creates an intricate piece of music that is both melodic and rhythmic.

Tap dance, a Black American art form, is deeply connected to jazz music, grounded in the
values of community, improvisation, and reverence for lineage. In Building Blocks, the dancers
draw inspiration from the tap artists who came before them, channeling their influences through
improvisation. By holding down their individual grooves while listening and responding to one
another, they collectively create a dynamic, living piece—making music through dance

Join us for the Trio’s performance on March 7, 2026, at McMaster University. Tickets available now. Link in bio.

Her work across student leadership, harm reduction initiatives, and efforts supporting individuals facing homelessness reflects this commitment to compassion and collective responsibility.

Introducing TEDxMcMasterU 2026 speaker, Janet King!

Janet King (she/her) is a student leader, literacy advocate, and founder of the Ameliorate Library. A 10th-grade scholar from Atlanta Georgia with a 4.0 GPA and Student Government Vice President at Kulima Montessori, she is passionate about community engagement, political science, anything related to the arts. With a longstanding passion driving her work, she built on that foundation as a graduate of the Veritas Debate Institute and a participant in the Veritas Global Travel Program, broadening both her perspective and experience.

Introducing TEDxMcMasterU 2026 speaker, Natasha Caleel!

Meet Natasha Caleel, a McMaster alumna with degrees in Kinesiology (‘09) and Occupational Therapy (‘11). She deeply believes that the people who experience problems are uniquely positioned to build the best solutions. This conviction led her from clinical practice to entrepreneurship when she couldn’t find what she needed as a new mom.

Over the past ten years, she built Sage Society (a women’s fitness brand) from the ground up, growing from helping a few friends to opening multiple fitness studios serving hundreds of women. Her work focuses on filling gaps the fitness industry consistently overlooks: pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and women’s health across all life stages.

With clinical expertise and lived experience, Natasha now challenges other industries to ask: Who are we leaving out? Natasha aims to inspire others to stop waiting for perfect solutions and start building the solutions they wish existed.

Join us for Natasha‘s TEDx talk on March 7, 2026, at McMaster University. Tickets available now. Link in bio.

Introducing TEDxMcMasterU 2026 speaker, Sahith Rajkumar!

This talk asks a simple but uncomfortable question: if we only reward momentum that looks like acceleration, who do we leave behind?

Meet Sahith Rajkumar, an Honours Biochemistry student at McMaster University, researcher, and community advocate who challenges how we define progress.

For over four years, Sahith has worked alongside individuals in Hamilton through Gore Park Community Outreach and Smiling Pillars, an initiative he founded a few years ago to foster resilience and intergenerational connection. Week after week, volunteers show up to the same park, the same streets, the same conversations. In that steady return, Sahith began to notice something most systems overlook: momentum that does not accelerate, but stays.

Through his research in Indigenous health and HIV equity, along with his sustained community work, Sahith has come to question the metrics we use to measure impact. We celebrate growth that is upward, fast, and visible. But what about the communities that survive by returning, rebuilding, and remaining present under constraint?

Inspired by his parents’ belief that responsibility builds belonging, and shaped by mentors who valued consistency over spectacle, Sahith believes momentum is not always something we create. Sometimes it is something we learn to recognize.

Through his TEDx talk, Sahith invites us to rethink progress, care, and what it truly means to stay.

Join us for Sahith‘s TEDx talk on March 7, 2026, at McMaster University. Tickets available now. Link in bio.
