I’ve realised that success isn’t only about achieving more. It’s also about protecting what matters most.

I still believe in ambition.

I still believe in excellence.

But I no longer admire a version of success that costs me my peace, my health, my relationships, or my walk with God.

These days, I’m choosing a life where peace comes with me—not one where it’s waiting at the finish line.

What does success mean to you today?

We live in a world that celebrates being busy.

Working harder.
Doing more.
Always being available.
Always chasing the next achievement.

But somewhere along the way, many of us started believing that exhaustion is proof we’re doing life well.

I’ve been asking myself a different question lately…

What if success was never supposed to cost us our peace?

Because what good is reaching your goals if you no longer recognise yourself?

If your body is constantly tired.
If your mind never switches off.
If your relationships are suffering.
If you no longer have time to hear God’s voice because you’re always rushing to the next thing.

I’m not saying don’t be ambitious.

Be ambitious.

Pursue excellence.

Build the business.
Lead well.
Study.
Dream big.

But don’t sacrifice your health, your joy, your family, or your relationship with God on the altar of achievement.

Real success isn’t just about what you’re building.

It’s also about who you’re becoming while you build it.

I’m learning that peace isn’t a reward waiting for me at the finish line.

It’s something I want to carry with me every step of the journey.

I don’t want success that requires me to abandon myself.

Healing doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like choosing peace over proving a point, resting without guilt, asking for help, or finally setting the boundary you once feared.

The quiet changes are often the deepest ones.

5 Things I’m Unlearning…

• That every trigger deserves my reaction. More often than not, I need to pause, ask why it unsettled me, and allow the wound beneath it to be revealed and healed.

• That I have to stay comfortable in situations that constantly disrupt my peace just to be seen as humble, kind, or agreeable.

• That I have to earn God’s love. His love isn’t a reward for perfect behaviour, it’s the place from which my healing begins.

• That healing has a deadline. Growth isn’t a race, and restoration cannot be rushed.

• That strength means carrying everything alone. Sometimes the strongest thing I can do is ask for help, set a boundary, or simply rest.

Healing has looked like unlearning just as much as learning.

Some of us have spent so long proving our strength that we’ve forgotten what rest feels like.

We celebrate women who keep going no matter how exhausted they are. We call them hardworking, dependable and resilient. But very rarely do we stop to ask what that constant pressure is doing to their bodies.

Sometimes the tiredness isn’t laziness.

Sometimes the headaches, poor sleep, brain fog, irritability or constant fatigue are your body’s way of saying, “I need care, not more pressure.”

I’ve come to realise that rest isn’t something we earn after we’ve done enough. It’s one of the ways we steward the life God has given us.

This month, I’m inviting you into a different conversation. And it’s about understanding your body, slowing down without guilt, and building rhythms that help you flourish.

Welcome to July.

Strong Women Rest Too. 🤍

I’d love to hear from you:

What belief about rest did you grow up with?

Sometimes the enemy does not need to break you completely. He only needs to keep you too busy to be still, too distracted to listen, and too exhausted to hear God clearly.

This is your reminder to slow down and return to stillness. Clarity often comes when your soul is quiet enough to receive.

A well-regulated woman…

• Knows when to excuse herself from chaos.
• Finds peace even when life feels uncertain.
• Carries quiet authority without needing to prove herself.
• Takes intentional steps towards her purpose.
• Dreams bigger than her current circumstances.
• Does not compete because she knows her journey is unique.
• Is content without becoming complacent.
• Protects her energy and guards her mind.
• Responds thoughtfully instead of reacting emotionally.
• Understands that rest is productive, not lazy.
• Sets boundaries without feeling guilty.
• Is secure enough to celebrate other women.

This is your sign to consider stillness. To create space to hear God clearly, understand yourself deeply, and return to who you were before the noise, pressure, and expectations of life pulled you away from yourself.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

What if the thing breaking you right now is actually the answer to the prayer you keep asking God to answer?

Think about it.

You prayed for obedience, but every day presents another opportunity to ignore what God already told you, consequences staring at you in the face 🥴.

You prayed for patience, and suddenly people are testing every last nerve you have.🤯

You prayed for healing, and wounds you thought were buried start aching again.

You prayed for wisdom, and now you’re standing in situations where shortcuts no longer work.

You prayed for breakthrough, and before the door opened, everything familiar started shaking.

We often expect answered prayers to arrive wrapped in comfort. But sometimes they arrive as lessons.

Sometimes God answers by exposing what needs to change.

Sometimes He answers by placing us in the very classroom we have been praying to graduate from.

The storm may be proof that God is teaching you what your next season requires.

So pay attention. Not just to the wind. Not just to the discomfort. Pay attention to the lesson.

Because what feels like a setback today may be preparing you for the very thing you asked God for yesterday.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-3

A soft reminder for the woman who feels pressured to prove, perform, or keep up.

Not every meaningful life is visible to everyone. Some seasons grow quietly, shaped by peace, healing, and intentional living.

Some women were not taught that love could stay even when they disagreed, rested, or chose themselves. So they learned to keep the peace, shrink their truth, and seek approval to feel safe.

This conversation on The Healing African Woman Podcast explores where approval seeking begins and how healing helps us return to ourselves with gentleness and truth.

Sometimes delay looks like laziness. But it is not. Sometimes it is emotional, cultural, fear.

And sometimes it is years of learning to seek approval before trusting ourselves.

I unpacked this more deeply on my podcast.
