This past Sunday I had the honorable pleasure being invited to get a sneak peek of @bmoreromantic, South Baltimore’s newest indie romance bookstore! 😌💘

I am very much obsessed with the vibes of this space. It feels so cozy and safe, definitely somewhere you can pop in and get some work done in the future 🤭 Most of all though, I loved meeting up with my girlies irl and just chatting about how excited we were for this place to open 😂 (@thebookishhottie, @mrs.yang_reads, @the_bookish_babee, @redwinesandreadline) I almost burst with joy through the whole thing!

Be sure to follow @bmoreromantic to stay updated on their grand opening. Right now they have limited store hours, so definitely pop out to support! We are the City that Reads 🫡💕

I heard we were celebrating TEN years of Insecure 🤯 This show literally and figuratively changed my life in so many ways. I have adored and respected Issa Rae as a visionary, artist, comedian, and THEE OG Awkward Black Girl since ABG on YouTube. From quoting the most hilarious awkward moments with my bestie, to memorizing the raps Issa has performed in the bathroom mirrors, Insecure is nothing short of iconic. Not just for me, but sooo many other young Black people looking for something to watch, feel represented in, but not subjected to tiring traumatic events 🫩.

If you’re new here, I wrote an essay for my senior symposium class in college titled “Hella Stellar: Insecure is a Beacon of Hope for Black Entertainment.” In this essay, I explore the historical context of Black Americans existing in entertainment, as well as how Insecure (seemingly effortlessly) raised the bar for what I expect from Black television moving forward. If you feel called to read it, you can find it in my biology (stealing this phrasing from queen Aphantasia Indigo on TikTok hehe).

Issa Rae, the entire ensemble, and the crew deserve endless flowers for this beautiful piece of Black culture. Ms. Rae, if you see this, you did that 💖

Hiii lovelies! ✨ Long time no see hehehe

I went to see Is God Is a few weeks ago, and I have NAWT been able to stop thinking about it (check out my Substack for my article on it). So naturally, I started thinking about what Racine and Aniah would read 🙂‍↕️

They’re both such distinctive individuals, yet also symbiotic asf. I think Racine was my favorite (HEAR ME OUT) because of how off the wall she was. I just wanted to save Aniah at every turn, just like Ray from The Violin Conspiracy 😂 Did y’all see Is God Is? What would you rate it from 1-10 <.<

Fun fact: I LOVEEEE movies. Like so much. I would go to the movie theaters every single day if I could LOL.

(PS. I KNOW MY RECS ARE OUTDATED. Please grant me grace yall know what I was going through)
