Tehilla Maloney-Joseph, MSc Development Statistics (with Merit)

This degree tried to finish me before I could finish it 😭

Four years ago, I started this journey as a scared young woman trying to build a career in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was terrified of failing. At the master’s degree. The new job. Moving out on my own. Just life.

At one point, I made up my mind to not even finish 🤣but you see Nicole, Sheena, Teocah and Akeela? These women put their HAND on me. “INCOMPLETE” was not allowed to be part of my story. Nearly every single week for a whole year, one of them would ask, “So where the thesis reach?” I want to give a big long thing about being goal-driven but really I finished it for inner and OUTER peace 🤣

I was ONLY able to do it because I was surrounded by a fresh start, love, accountability and God’s grace.

Special mention: Big up my husband for keeping me calm, encouraged and fed through that last leg dey, you make it look easy❤️

Climate CHANGE! As in y’all PLEASE let’s change our business wear (😭).

I’m late, but I had to big up my seamstress @island_seams for getting me stage-ready in the Bahamas! She took the vision and ran with it, creating high-quality pieces that felt professional, flattering and actually made sense for the Caribbean.

As a petite WI woman, I’m tired of drowning in traditional business wear designed for somewhere and somebody else (who doh even wear it again). It’s time to normalize island business wear that can move seamlessly from blasting AC to frying heat.

2025 was that year.
So many restarts and transitions.
So much FUN amidst hard lessons.

The hardest parts for me were accepting change
(I only pretend to be good at it)
and being gentle with myself through it all
(which I’ve never pretended to be good at).

The best parts, as always, are the people I love.
I LOVE PEOPLE. If you think I love plenty people it’s because I do. Just being in the midst of a familiar crowd is enough to improve my mental health. To my credit, it was definitely a people-y year.

Looking forward, I hope to share more of my life perspectives on here in 2026.
I don’t think I’ve ever come across as perfect,
but it is my hope that my lil section of IG will be dotted
with parts that are slightly more human.
