We ventured into the mesophotic zone—deep ‘twilight’ reefs found roughly 30 to 150 meters below the surface—using decompression dives to extend our bottom time. Surveying biodiversity at these rarely explored depths allows us to assess reef health, monitor how these ecosystems are changing, and understand whether they could serve as vital refuges for marine life as shallower reefs face growing environmental pressures.🫧🤙🏻🤍
