Nothing prepares you for the loss of a parent.To everyone else he was Oluseyi, Uncle Seyi, Baba Yinka but to me, he was so much more. He was my first friend, my confidant, and most importantly my father. He saw through me and understood me. Grieving his passing has been the most difficult thing I have ever had to endure. He was everything to me as I was to him. I ran to him with everything, even the flimsiest issues and it didn’t even matter if we could fix it because he always made me feel better and i indeed was better because of him. We spoke practically everyday and I’ve had to go a year without speaking to the person that meant the most to me. Our routine calls meant so much to me. Life is harder knowing I can’t make or receive these calls anymore. He loved me very loudly and always expressed how proud he was to have me. These days, these are the things i take consolation in. Through everything life threw at us, we went through it together because we had each other and that’s all that mattered. I cannot believe I’m speaking about my dad in past tense. My heart is broken.
More than anything, I’m thankful for the life he lived. I’ll spend the rest of my journey missing him but he’ll live in my memories of him, in the love he shared and in the lessons he taught me. What an inspiring life he lived! Every time I’ve had to talk about my dad, it has been with so much pride, through tears sometimes but a lot of pride. Really grateful for all the pictures of him that I have. Oh how he loved pictures! I’m happy he didn’t mind me trolling him for always being picture ready. These are frozen moments which I now cherish very much.

Life comes at you fast because I went from squeezing myself into his favorite one sitter so we could watch tv and have dinner together to saying my final goodbyes. His life? Wasn’t the easiest but a testimony he never failed to encourage others with. His life was truly an evidence of God’s faithfulness. by @temi.os

My daddy, my best friend, my twin, my entire heart. Thank you so much for all these beautiful years. Thank you for not just being a father but the best father i could have ever asked for. Thank you so much for loving me very loudly. I never had to doubt how much you cared for me because it was always so evident in everything you did.

You were so intentional in the way you showed your love, and I could always feel it, even in the smallest things. You made sure I knew I was never alone. It still hasn’t registered that you’ll never call me Lovekins anymore because I’ve never imagined a life without you in it.
Thank you for always being so bubbly and having the brightest smile in every room. That smile was a reflection of the joy and light you brought into my life.I can’t even begin to express how deeply I’ll miss it. This is an unfillable void and that’s because you set the standard for a lot of things in my life. You taught me what it means to love, to give, and to live with an open heart.

Now that you’re gone, I find myself searching for the right way to grieve you. It doesn’t feel real. I miss you in ways I can’t put into words.
Even though you’re not physically here, I know you’ll always be with me, in my heart, in my memories, in the love you left behind.
Thank you for always showing up for me. You brought so much love, joy, pride, and blessings into my world.
With the heaviest heart, I say goodbye to my best friend and a piece of my heart that can never be replaced.

I thank God for your life and can’t wait to see you in the next daddy. Until then, Daddy, I’ll carry you in my heart forever.
