Temi started Tees & Co with a tweet that generated thousands of interactions.

But there was more to the story.

Before Tees & Co, she had already built a shoe brand and sold shirts while in school. She had experience working with manufacturers, understanding customers, managing inventory and figuring out how to sell physical products.

That meant when the tweet brought attention to her new business, she wasn’t completely starting from scratch.

She still had to figure out how to turn attention into customers, manage cash and inventory, build a community and grow the company without giving up equity.

Today, Tees & Co has grown a community of more than 20,000 people and is expanding into B2B and broader distribution.

Sometimes the thing people see as the breakthrough is only the visible part of the journey.
