Today is my mom’s 80th birthday! ❤️

I’m so grateful I got to spend time with her, hug, kiss and watch some Friends tv show today and celebrate this milestone. As life changes, I’m reminded how precious each moment together truly is.

Happy 80th birthday, Mom. Janet Bieler

Dolly Adele - she's a little goddess. She's had surgery recently - had all of her teeth removed (except for 2 teeth), spayed and a full mastectomy on her left side, which she has staples right now on her whole entire left side of her stomach. She's running around, ready to play, full of love and sweetness like nothing happened. She is absolutely incredible. #adoptdontshop #adoptseniordogs by @templehound6

🎂🐾 Happy 16th Birthday to my sweet Ollie. 🐾🎂

16 years of this beautiful, gentle soul. 🤍

I’ve adopted many senior and hospice pups over the years, and I treasure every one of them deeply. But Ollie has been with me from the very beginning — since he was a tiny puppy — and there is something so incredibly special about getting to grow old together.

He has this tender way about him that makes you just want to hold onto him forever. He has been there through so many chapters of my life, and somehow, through all the changes, he has remained my sweet Ollie.

Sixteen years. 🥹❤️
Sixteen years of love, companionship, so much silliness, comfort, and the kind of unconditional love only a dog can give. #adoptdontshop #rescuebreedisthebestbreed #seniordogsarethebest by @templehound6

On July 30th, I adopted a new senior pup from the Carson Animal Shelter: Dolly Adele. 🐾❤️

I know this post is long overdue, but honestly, I’ve been too busy watching her blossom to sit down and write it.

Dolly is estimated to be 12 or 13 years old. She came in as a stray, with no microchip, and unfortunately, she has some significant medical needs ahead of her. She has severe dental decay with very few teeth remaining, a mass on her mammary glands, and she still needs to be spayed.

But in just two weeks, the progression I’ve seen in her has been incredible.

She has almost flawlessly integrated with my other pups, and she has brought such a sweet, peaceful energy into our home. She is simply a wonderful little light. ✨

There’s something incredibly special about giving an older dog the chance to feel safe, loved, comfortable, and home—even if you don’t know how much time you have together.

Welcome home, Dolly Adele. You were worth the wait. ❤️🐶

Today marks 1 year since I adopted my sweet baby Raye… and it's my dad’s birthday. He would have been 95yo today - passed away in 2014 ❤️

When I saw Raye’s picture on the LA county website, I knew she was meant to be part of my tribe. She was about 11yo & at Palmdale Animal Shelter.

I named her Raye after my dad, Edward Ray Bieler, and I love that she carries a little piece of him with her. ✨

When she came home, Raye had quite the journey ahead of her. I had to get all of her teeth removed except 1, had a mass removed from her belly, and she has one working eye. Her other “eye” seems to be a birth deformity (although only Raye knows the full story 😉), but it doesn’t slow her down one bit.

She is truly a ray of sunshine. ☀️

I love all her quirks. She has the best boundaries, loves being close, but don't overcrowd her. She’s a professional burrower, Velcroed to my leg and my little sidekick.

She does NOT like being picked up… unless we’re going in the car. Then suddenly she knows the routine, jumps onto my chest, and holds on like a little cat. 🥹 She demands her walks with the ultimate death stare, and of course there’s the signature tongue that always hangs perfectly to the left.

Raye, you are proof that the older dogs, the overlooked dogs, and the ones with a few extra quirks have so much love left to give. I’m so grateful you found me.

Happy birthday, Dad. I think of you everyday and miss you. I like to think you sent me a little Raye of sunshine. ❤️🐾 #adoptdontshop #seniordogsarethebest by @templehound6

My sweet pup Charlie crossed over the rainbow, and I truly thought we had more time. I wish we did. But I also know you are no longer in pain and are now in a peaceful place. 💔🌈

Charlie came into my life in November 2025 at 16 years old after being surrendered to Agoura Animal Shelter. His condition showed years of neglect, malnourishment, and a life that had not been easy. I was originally only supposed to foster him, but the day before I picked him up, I was told a nonprofit organization was going to take him. Something in me knew I couldn’t let him go somewhere else and possibly be placed again. I just wanted him to have a home—to rest, to feel safe, to just be, and to never have to worry again. So I asked the shelter if I could adopt him, and thankfully, they said yes.

Charlie had heart disease, kidney disease, and his vision wasn’t the best, but he could hear just fine. Anytime he heard my voice, his little head would turn. I called him Char, my Charlie boy, Charlie Barley who rides a Harley, and my love. ❤️

He was always the first one to get up from my crew in the morning, ready for his morning treat, running into the kitchen like he knew exactly what was coming. Those little moments mean everything.

The last two weeks, Charlie got sicker. After vet appointments, medications, and testing, it became clear it was time to make the hardest decision—to say goodbye. No matter how many times we go through this, it never gets easier. It’s a process before, during, and after.

Right now, I’m in the “after.” Still processing. Still hurting. Still missing you.

Thank you for trusting me to be your home, Charlie. You were deeply loved, and I hope you knew that every single day.

Run free, my sweet Charlie boy. 🌈🐾 I also want to give a HUGE thank you to @sofia.ladan @rtamyr @healthcareforhomelessanimals @agouraanimalslaco for all that you did for Charlie and making sure he got the care he needed and a soft landing. It seriously takes a village in rescuing an animal. by @templehound6

Happy Mama's Day 💐

Today is for every kind of mothering heart.

To the moms who are holding their children close—thank you for the love you pour out every day, in the visible and invisible ways you care, protect, and show up.

To the moms who have lost children—your love didn’t end. It continues in memory, in quiet moments, in the way you carry both grief and devotion at the same time. That bond remains real, always.

To the women who longed to be mothers but couldn’t—your tenderness, nurturing, and capacity to love have never been less meaningful. Mothering isn’t only defined by biology; it lives in the way you show up for others, in care that takes many forms.

And to the pet moms 🐾—the ones who nurture, comfort, and build whole worlds around their animals—you know that love can be pure, constant, and deeply mutual in ways that don’t need words.

Motherhood isn’t one shape. It’s love that cares for life in all its forms, even when it looks different than expected.

Wishing warmth, gentleness, and recognition to every version of that love today. #happymothersday #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescueseniordogs #adoptdontshop taken in Los Angeles, California by @templehound6

I'm a certified Pet Death Doula!!!

It’s kind of funny that “pet death doula” is even a thing… and also, honestly, so beautiful that it exists.

As most of you know, my life has really been shaped by loving and caring for dogs—especially senior and hospice pups. I’ve made it a practice (and a privilege) to adopt dogs in their final chapters, and I’ve now walked 6 of my own over the rainbow. Each one has changed me. Each goodbye has mattered.

Alongside that, I’m a trauma therapist for humans (lol), and I’ve sat with so many people navigating the heartbreak of all kinds including losing their animals. One thing is always true—this kind of grief runs deep. It’s real, it’s raw, and it deserves to be held with care.

Losing a pet is painful, heartbreaking, and sacred in its own way. It’s a relationship, a bond, a love that deserves to be honored with tenderness, respect, and empathy.
So this just feels like a natural extension of who I already am—for both people and their animals.

Welcome home, Charlie 🤍🐾
This sweet 16yo boy came from @agouraanimalslaco after being surrendered when his owner passed away. I always have such a tough time wrapping my head around how a dog this gentle, this loving, ended up so neglected… malnourished, and clearly without the care he deserved. It hurts to imagine what he’s been through and how easily he was discarded in the hardest chapter of his life.
But that ends now!
Charlie is home. He is safe. He is warm. He will never wonder where his next meal is coming from, or if anyone cares. He will be held, protected, cherished, and loved for the rest of his days.
Senior dogs deserve dignity and unconditional love.
And now, Charlie will spend the rest of his life knowing he matters. 🤍✨ A special shout out to @sofia.ladan for fostering him and being so wonderful! And another special shout out to @healthcareforhomelessanimals for taking care of Charlie's needs for him to get to where he is at now! #rescuedogsofinstagram #adoptdontshop #seniordogs taken in Los Angeles, California by @templehound6

❤️ Why I Adopt Senior & Hospice Dogs ❤️
Just want to say this because I keep hearing comments like “You got another dog?!” or “You’re crazy for taking in more seniors.” Or my purpose being questioned or misunderstood. So I want to share why I do what I do, from my heart:

✨ 1. This is my purpose.
Rescuing dogs is what I’m meant to do. It’s where I feel aligned, useful, and grounded. This is my calling.

✨ 2. Senior and hospice pups hold a special place in my heart.
I want to give them love, safety, warmth, and comfort in their final stretch of life. Some of these pups have never known what it feels like to be unconditionally loved — and I want to be the person who gives them that gift.

✨ 3. I want them to finally rest.
To know they don’t have to survive anymore… they can just be. They can breathe, soften, and feel safe.

✨ 4. I don’t think of them as “pets.”
My home is a sanctuary. I want to give them everything they need — physically, emotionally, spiritually — for whatever healing their little hearts and bodies require.

✨ 5. I want them to pass with dignity.
When their time comes, I want them to leave this world in a home filled with peace — not alone, not scared, not in a shelter. Just love, warmth, and gentleness.

✨ 6. I’m drawn to helping dogs with trauma heal.
Working with them helps me, too. Yes, having four senior pups can be strenuous at times, but I find I'm good at doing this work. I figure out what each one needs, and I have so many therapeutic tools to support their healing. And honestly… they give me so much more in return.

💛 So no — I’m not “crazy.” I’m fulfilled.
This is sacred work to me. And if you don’t understand it, that’s okay. Just know that every dog who comes into my home leaves this world knowing they were deeply loved — and that will always be worth it to me.

Meet Raye 💛
I adopted this sweet 10-year-old from Palmdale Animal Center on July 17th — my dad’s birthday. I named her after him: Edward Ray Bieler. She’s already living up to her name... a true ray of sunshine. ☀️
Last week, she had 20 teeth pulled, a mastectomy, and was spayed — and she’s handling it all with so much strength and sweetness. I’m in awe of her already.
Welcome home, Raye. You’re safe now. 🐾
