RIP Dame Esther Rantzen.

The face of That's Life and the end of the weekend TV on Sunday nights, as well as a tireless campaigner with charities like Childline. by @templer_doom

Three days to go until friends and filmmakers old and new gather for @londoniff with @natasha.marburger leading her ever excellent team.

Honoured to be hosting the Q and A for the horror indie #underthebypass , one of eight movies hitting the @genesiscinema across two weekends from October 2-11th, 2026.

But LIFF is so much more, no VIP Area , just an equal place to celebrate cinematic vision and creativity.

My first year as a @falmouthuni MA Screenwriting graduate and excited about my own projects.

As Bruno Kirby said to Daniel Stern and Billy Crystal in City Slickers (1991):

'Out there are all the answers'

I am eager to find mine .

Come and join the celebrations

Great to attend a Q and A screening of The Invite, with Olivia Wilde and Quincy Jones' daughter Rashida Jones reflecting on the process in conversation with Greta Gerwig.

Also nice to chat with them after the screening and discuss craft further. As an emerging Screenwriting graduate these events are always fascinating. taken in Ham Yard Hotel by @templer_doom

John Higgins is the curator of What Movie (www.whatmovie.co.uk), a film and entertainment website resource that has been partnering LIFF since 2024. John began his career in 1988 as a Production Assistant during the post-production of In Search of Wildlife with David Shepherd, before moving on to the British Board of Film Classification, first as a General Assistant and then training as a Film Projectionist, a post he held for seventeen years between 1996 and 2013.

Since 2015, John has been developing his talents in content creation, including being a critic for the likes of Film and TV Now and Starburst (some reviews on Rotten Tomatoes) and resident Film Expert for the This British Life and Vialucci podcasts over the last eight years. His YouTube channel, John Higgins Film Review, includes interviews with key industry talent, the most recent being Fatima Cortez-Todd, the widow of acting legend Tony Todd.

Recently, John graduated with an MA (Merit) in Writing for Script and Screen from Falmouth University and has several new projects in the works, including an animated series and a horror feature screenplay.
