The HEAR Initiative at the University of Guelph is building one of the most detailed pictures of rural Ontario ever created, tracking health, housing, economy, and climate resilience across 200,000 households over three survey waves. When you participate, you are not just answering questions. You are making sure your community shows up in the data that shapes healthcare access, infrastructure funding, and climate planning for years to come. Daytime Snow Removal Operations – School Zones The City of Temiskaming Shores advises residents that daytime snow removal operations will begin Thursday, March 19 at 7:00 AM, with a focus on school zone areas. These efforts are in preparation for the return to school following recent weather conditions. What to expect: β€’ Active snow removal in and around school zones β€’ Increased presence of heavy equipment, including graders and loaders How you can help: β€’ Please avoid parking on roadways near school zones β€’ Use extra caution when travelling in these areas Important Safety Reminder: Residents are asked to remind children not to build snow forts or play in roadside snowbanks, as this creates serious safety risks during snow removal operations. Thank you for your cooperation as crews continue to improve conditions across our community. by @temshorescity
Safety Notice: Residents are asked to clear snow and ice from all exterior exhaust vents, including those for furnaces, water heaters and dryers. Heavy snow accumulation can block these vents, leading to a dangerous buildup of carbon monoxide inside your home. City of Temiskaming Shores Fire Services advises you to ensure you have working carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home. If your alarm sounds, leave the building immediately and call 911. by @temshorescity

Residents may now resume normal use of tap water for drinking, cooking, and bathing. πŸ“¬ Door-to-door notices will be delivered to affected households once weather conditions improve to formally confirm that the advisory has been lifted. Waste Collection Update – Weather Delay Due to the ongoing severe weather conditions, garbage collection scheduled for Monday will not take place. All Monday collection routes will be postponed to Tuesday, following a regular collection schedule. Residents who have already placed waste bins at the curb are asked to temporarily move them back from the roadway to allow City crews to safely conduct snow removal and road maintenance operations. Once conditions allow, residents may place their waste back out for Tuesday’s collection. The City also reminds residents that during winter conditions, waste must be placed in a visible location on the ground as close to the roadway as possible. Please do not place waste on top of or behind snowbanks, on sidewalks, or in any area that interferes with road or sidewalk maintenance. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as crews continue working to maintain safe road conditions during this weather event. by @temshorescity
🚨 Transit Service Suspension Notice – Monday, March 16, 2026 🚨 Due to significant weather conditions and in the interest of passenger and driver safety, Temiskaming Transit services are suspended until further notice. City crews are continuing to monitor conditions and are working to keep priority routes maintained during this weather event. Transit service will resume once conditions improve and it is safe to do so. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please continue to monitor City of Temiskaming Shores channels for updates.
