Turn folded text into a curved 3D scene.

Tenada is a mobile design app for creating 3D text and motion typography with just a few simple controls.

Start with the Fold Text Shape, set the fold to 180°, then push the Roundness all the way up.

Instead of a sharp fold, the text bends into a smooth half-circle around your subject.

Next, turn on 3D Layer for each object—the text and your subject. Once both are enabled, they’re placed in the same 3D space, so you can create a more natural front-and-back relationship between them.

Add animation, and the whole scene comes to life.

Save this for later and try your own version in Tenada.

Make text jump rope around lemons 🍋

This effect looks a little complicated, but it’s made with just a few simple tools in Tenada.

We shaped the text into a wave, placed two lemons inside it, and made the text rotate around them like a jump rope.

The key is combining Wave Text Shape, 3D Layer Mode, and Rotate animation.

Shape the text into a wave.

Go to Shape and choose Wave, then tap it again to open the controls.

Wave gives you three simple ways to shape the text:

Angle 1 controls how strong and wavy the curve becomes.
Angle 2 tilts the wave upright in 3D space, making the text feel more dimensional.
The last slider adjusts the spacing between the letters.

For this design, we increased the wave and adjusted the angle until the text formed a large loop around the two lemons.

Try moving all three controls—the same Wave shape can look completely different with just a few adjustments.

Put the objects together in 3D space

Go to Layer and turn on 3D Layer Mode for the text and both lemon images.

Normally, you can press and hold a layer and drag it to change the layer order.

With 3D Layer Mode turned on, however, objects can appear in front of or behind each other based on their position in 3D space, rather than just their order in the layer list.

Adjust the depth of the text and lemons until the text passes naturally in front of and behind them.

Tip: If an edge or overlap doesn’t look quite right, try changing the layer order too. It can sometimes help clean up the result.

Make the text spin like a jump rope

Go to Animation to add movement to the text.

Tenada has a variety of animation presets, and combining them with different 3D Text Shapes can create some really interesting motion.

For this jump-rope effect, we kept things simple. Tap the detailed settings icon shown here, then choose Rotate 2 from the looping animations.

Use the slider below to adjust the rotation speed, and tap the direction button to make it spin the other way.

Once the wavy text starts rotating, it moves around the lemons like a jump rope.

Try changing the speed or direction to find the motion that works best for your design.
