There are too many photos capturing thousands upon thousands of words that I don’t even know how to say —- I could caption every still or screen grab of every exciting text between Dave and I so all of you can see how beautiful his heart is and how much he really cares for the work. On my first day on episode one, I was so nervous. It was DAY 1 of Season 3 and everyone was a family already and when you constantly have to fight the orphan narrative in your mind, it makes it hard to feel like you belong anywhere. Not with @lildickygram. I don’t think anyone will ever understand what that feeling means to me, and that’s okay, but Dave should know PUBLICLY that it matters beyond measure and that’s all I’ll say about that.

For obvious reasons I DON’T have to say, this experience was surreal and affirming and like Dave’s email from the get, WILD! I mean, “me, you, and Brad!!” !!

I am so taken back by all the love and support and story posts and messages and texts and every ounce of energy spent towards talking about the @daveonfxx finale.

Congratulations to the whole @daveonfxx cast & crew for a truly unforgettable season, and for letting me tag along for the ride. I am forever indebted to your hospitality and sweet kindness.

I hope and dream that we can all get back to work soon. Equitably, and ready to make more people laugh, cry, and feel stuff.

Man, what a wild thing to dream during this weird time of aliveness. What a feat and a stretch. What a privilege.

A wrap on Mt. Mystic 🗻🏔️✨

I searched the dictionary for the most beautiful word - one to describe this experience and these people. Turns out to describe the intangible can be a little ineffable. Turns out there is not one word but many: Crystalline. Effervescent. Ephemeral. Halcyon. Idyllic. Labrynth. Luminous. Love. Opulent. Petrichor. Ripple. Sempiternal. Poetic. Unconditional. Wondrous. Zoetic.

So many words and yet not enough. I even tried to look up the word that defines the feeling of meeting every single person you’ll ever love in one lifetime.

What word did I find, you ask? Lucky.

May a love or a word or a place like Mt. Mystic find you. I am so lucky it found me.

(Including, but not limited to: Seth doing the most cartoon of farts when playing basketball one off day… it is the funniest fart I’ve ever heard, I think?

And then there’s @kellyangell__ ‘s angelic voice that I want to make a blanket out of.

Anyway, you get it.)

The odds that Kelsey & I ended up in the magical city of New Orleans after being born in towns 40 mins away from each other in Rhode Island and Massachusetts are pretty cinematic if you ask me.

Kelsey brings me home to parts of myself I thought would be lost forever — geographically and metaphorically. I never thought that I’d get to return to New England in my adulthood, and yet here I am for the second time. Last time was dedicated to Portuguese food and my family’s first language and markets and my Tia Dolores and the street I lived on in Fall River, MA and this time was this sort of cosmic intersection between Kelsey’s Italian heritage and my Portuguese one alongside. Kelsey’s family of origin came a good 80 years or so before mine made it to America (according to my vovo’s memory of immigrating to Mass in 1970) and I couldn’t help but to sit on those rocks and think about if our respective families ever crossed paths. What if our families walked beside each other on the street? Visited the same store? Went to the same Midnight Mass on Christmas? What if their descendants ended up in New Orleans of all places and became so attached at the hip that they might actually be more intertwined than they could ever cultivate themselves? (Hint: they DID)

There’s a movie here somewhere about two weirdo soul mates and their friendship being conceived a whole century before them, as a little seedling in the bellies of their grandparents as they made their way across the ocean to America.

The genre of this movie teeters between a rom-com and good ole fashioned comedy, mostly because the two protagonists used to be homo for each other and (that was a really weird time) have yet to start growing old together because they are still arguably VERY young. Very grateful these weird coincidences all randomly happened so that I’d get the wild chance to deeply love this strange creature.

A year ago today, a 12 year journey as an actor reached a peak: this was IT. The DAVE finale aired and the phone calls and meetings began their upheaval. I buckled up, unsure of what was to come as the horizon I saw showed glimpses of the impending SAG-AFTRA Actor’s strike. A necessary halt to momentum I became sure was going to change everything. It did. It also didn’t. Because that’s how it goes in what I do and I am not the only actor to share this story. A pandemic halted many of our momentums before — this time, we all had to do it together and not with the rest of the world.

There is something to be said about dreamers. We are stretched so far and wide and dream largely to make fruitful our heart’s desire. We reckon with feeling irresponsible about it. How long can I endure the heartbreak of the lulls? How long can I grind through serving someone’s table, forgetting the silverware, and being told how largely that matters when all I can think about is creating art? And why am I being such a whiney f*cking baby? I am entitled to nothing except my dreams. We all are.

I don’t want to forget about my dreaming because of how hard it all is. I do not want my child to see me give up on my dreams, as I will never let him say goodbye to his.

If there are actors who feel lately that their dreams are too big, maybe I can offer a hand to hold? Maybe our dreams float above us like clouds, and if we combine our dream clouds, they’ll become thunder and our dreams will come true and down like a rainstorm. Every drop falling means a dream comes alive.

Hopefully, this was just a peak of one of the many mountains of my life I will have to climb.
