My first ever 5K — with minimal training, minimal prep, and absolutely no idea how emotional I was going to be when I crossed that finish line.

But I DID IT. 😭

I cried after I crossed. Not because 46:57 is some crazy record-breaking time, but because I finished something I challenged myself to do. My body carried me the whole 5K, and that feeling when I realized wait… I actually did it?! 🥹

Now I fear I’ve entered the slippery slope into a running habit… and possibly a whole running lifestyle. 😂🏃🏽‍♀️ Because why am I already thinking about the next 5K??

46:57 for a first timer. Now we have a time to beat. 😌⌚️

Thank god for my @nike Vomero 18s for carrying me across that finish line 👟😂 I bought those shoes KNOWING I wanted to start running. and to @zionfitnesshouse for an first experience I’ll genuinely never forget. 💙

I’ve played Mas since I was a child, raised in this culture and immersed in the music, the movement, and the beauty of it all. This road knows my secrets. It knows my pain. Carnival runs through my veins and has always resonated with me. 🇹🇹✨

I may not be a Carnival genius or a cultural icon, but I know what it gives me. The excitement. The fullness. And when it’s over, there is a true Carnival tabanca.

For the last two and a half years, I’ve been fortunate to exist within the Carnival space in many facets, as a creative, an artist, a contributor, and a masquerader. Behind my camera, behind my lash bed, and on the road as a living piece of the celebration. 📸✨

Playing with @spiritmas felt like coming home. Carrying that costume felt like a second skin. My SPIRIT…has settled where it belongs. Carnival is healing, and there simply are not enough words to explain what shifted in me on Tuesday.

For the first time in a long time, I felt beautiful on the road. I let go of the doubts. I let go of the questioning. My body felt strong, my glam was flawless, and I felt free. 💫

I missed my “big people mas” crew deeply, but I made new memories and connections. Nobody replaces the originals. 🤍

I was honored to be part of the Bravia Baddie crew and already look forward to discovering what baddie I will embody next year.

Ana… @annaixe I am speechless, your execution was brilliant. I was honored to wear your creation.

This Carnival is also dedicated to the friends and family we have lost in these past months. Especially my grandmother, Lynette. I missed your commentary on my costume. I crossed that stage on Tuesday and instead of seeing you waving and cheering, there were empty seats. I carried you with me anyway. 🤍

As I step into a new decade next week, this felt like alignment. Like confirmation.

This was not just a return to the road. This was a return to myself.
