I walked in today thinking it was just another normal day…
Then I saw my name on the marquee for Teacher of the Year.

I am still in shock.

📚✨ Back to school feels extra special this year… because I said YES! 💛

As a new school year begins, I am beyond blessed to share that I’ve officially accepted the ECSE/ALE Special Education position for medically fragile students at the Nellie Reddix Center.

This is more than a career move — it’s my dream come true. My heart has been pulled toward this work for as long as I can remember, and much of that is because of my incredible brother, Kyle, who was born with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and intellectual disabilities. He has been my greatest teacher, my inspiration, and my constant reminder of the power of love, patience, and possibility.

From the moment I stepped into this role, I have felt nothing but encouragement and kindness from my co-workers, instructional assistants, admin, and district support staff. Their support has made me feel right at home, and I am so excited for the journey ahead.

Here’s to saying “YES” to passion, purpose, and making a difference — one student at a time. 💛✨

💙New chapter, new classroom 💙

✏️Teaching medically fragile students has already been such a rewarding experience. I’m loving getting to know my amazing kids, finding new ways to get creative with lessons, and smiling every single day.

It wouldn’t be a holiday weekend without a pageant 😂. It was my first time to attend the @missunitedworld Pageant in Round Rock, TX! The pageant was beautifully run with so many gorgeous, talented, and inspiring women.

It was extra special getting to see some familiar @misstexaspetite faces! 🥰 There’s nothing like running into your pageant sisters!

✏️Pre-writing skills don’t have to mean pencil and paper!

One of my favorite OTs (Occupational Therapist) taught me that we can strengthen the muscles needed for pre-writing through everyday play. 💪💦 This water-transfer activity had students thinking they were simply having fun… while they were actually building hand and arm strength and practicing important skills for future writing!

I also believe in the importance of repeating lessons—not only for our students, but for us as educators too. Every time I repeat a lesson, I learn something new about my students, discover new ways to engage them, and find ways to build on skills.

And with this Texas heat 🥵, what better way to learn than with water?!

The best part? Learning materials don’t have to be matching, Pinterest-perfect, or “cute” to be meaningful. Sometimes the simplest materials can create the biggest engagement and the most learning. 💙

Back-to-school mini pop-up in the books 🥹✂️ thank you for spending part of your Saturday at Moxie, supporting a local vendor, and helping us fill this donation box for our American Legion Auxiliary Post 592 school supply drive. seeing queens, mamas, and kiddos all in one space reminded me exactly why “Embracing Life as Your Canvas” matters to me so much — using beauty and community to pour back into families who need it most. 💜

The girls and I had the BEST time completing the @scallywompus_events Midsummer Night’s Dream 5K! 🌙🧚🩵 This women-only night run has become one of our favorite traditions, and this year we went all out with glowing skirts, fairy wings, and light-up scrunchies. ✨

One of the highlights was stopping by our favorite water station hosted by the Village Idiots—better known as “Dad Bods.” 😂 They never disappoint and always keep the energy high!

There’s something so special about spending an evening surrounded by amazing women, encouraging each other, laughing the whole way, and creating memories we’ll never forget.

This week was so much more than a pageant, it was a reminder of why I continue to chase goals that challenge me.

Walking away knowing I gave my very best is something I’m incredibly proud of. Not because of the outcome, but because of the growth, the lessons, and the person I’ve become along the way.

After the pageant, a few of us kicked off our heels, grabbed some snacks, and filled the evening with laughter, stories, and the kind of moments that remind me why I love pageantry🫶🏼 👗. No competition, no schedules—just genuine conversations, lots of laughter, and the kind of friendships that make weekends like this so special.

✨ Day 2 ✨

Today was all about sharing my heart during interview and celebrating this incredible journey at the Sparkle Party. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent Texas, share my passion for medically fragile advocacy, and make memories with an amazing group of women.

And of course, I loved stepping into the day in my favorite shoes—the Jatana by @marcdefang. They were the perfect finishing touch!

✨ Check-in & Orientation Day ✨

The countdown is officially over! Today was filled with excitement as I checked in, met so many incredible women from across the country, and began this unforgettable journey.
