POSTS STORIES REELS

A little life update. We’ve been writing a limited series based on the unbelievable true story of Termaine Hicks. A man who was shot in the back three times, then spent 20 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. The series exposes the staggering corruption and cover-up within the Philadelphia Police Department that kept an innocent man behind bars for two decades.

This project has been one of the most powerful stories we’ve ever worked on! #philly #philadelphia #corruption by @termainej.hicks

Was truly a wonderful experience running NYC Marathon with the @innocenceproject on Nov. 3. Seeing mile markers as I passed them was surreal but once I saw marker that said 1 mile to go I became overwhelmed with emotions. Couldn’t believe I just ran and about to finish the NYC Marathon having to endure and experience a wrongful conviction for 2 decades due to police misconduct, after being shot 3 times and in the cusps of celebrating 4 years of freedom. To date, by far one of my greatest achievements and I’m not done yet! Love and appreciation to my biggest supporter, Melissa Brooks who stood out in the cold for 5 plus hours until I crossed the finish line. @melissabrooks @stepup_est2008 #freedom #termainehicks by @termainej.hicks

In conversation with his friend and attorney Karen Thompson, filmmaker, playwright, and exoneree Termaine Hicks reflects on how creative writing sustained him throughout nearly two decades of wrongful incarceration — and Ms. Thompson shares how his case completely reshaped her understanding of justice.

The Innocence Project and @storycorps Studios present more than 30 intimate conversations with exonerees — now preserved in the Library of Congress and available for the first time.
