The anger and the vitriol being expressed toward men in our society over this past week is almost laughable.
What happened is a horrific crime and these men should be punished to the full extent of the law. If I had my way, they’d be strung up by their testicles and tortured to death.
But I’m not the law.
Our liberal society created these beasts and we wonder how and why something like this could happen?

When they took the 10 Commandments out of our public schools in 1980, the literal guardrails were removed.
Morality was no longer taught.
There was no right or wrong.
And over the past couple generations, parents have helicoptered and gentle parented these children into beasts.
There is no responsibility or consequences for their actions anymore.
Every parent who has bailed their kid out with a note to the teacher, or the coach or the police, when they knew their kid was as guilty as sin, made these creatures.
There is no longer any consequence for bad behavior.
And in 1973 when murder of innocent babies became legal, all respect for any life left the building; and now we can kill that innocent life up to, and even after birth.

Our home away from home.
Since we’ve owned this trailer, I’ve updated and made it our own, personalizing it to our taste.
Homey.
Warm.
Comfortable.
And NOT factory RV decor or colors.

This came off the line in the era of dark wood, dark leather, dark bulky valances and dark everything.
So I painted and papered and changed upholstery to lighten up as much as possible without a total overhaul.
It’s made it so much brighter.
It’s home our home on wheels and we love it!

Conundrum.
Picking up a complicated sweater I started here last year….
Where the heck am I in the pattern?
What are these row markers telling me?
Lord, help me figure this out!
With a 36 degree morning today, I may need to wear this while we’re here!!

Today was homemade Rotel.
Basically stewed tomatoes with onions, garlic and assorted hot and sweet peppers.
I use it in chili, chicken tortilla soup and assorted Mexican dishes. It’s super spicy tomatoes!
The tomatoes just won’t quit, so I’m being inventive in using them all!

Remodeling:

We’ve truly only remodeled two rooms in our own home — moved walls, changed the layout. Everything else has been simple redecorating: paint, carpet, window treatments. But even when we moved walls, we never touched the foundation. That stayed exactly as it was.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” ~2 Corinthians 5:17

When we accept Christ into our lives, He doesn’t want to just hang an 8x10 of Himself in the hallway, plop a Bible on the coffee table, and stick a fish decal on the car. He’s not interested in redecorating the old you with a fresh coat of paint and a new couch.

He wants to gut the place — down to the foundation. Because we could never do that ourselves.

In Christ, we become new ‘structures’ altogether, with room for Him to fill us with gifts, callings, and kingdom work we were never capable of before.

So when you feel that pinch of conviction from the Holy Spirit, or are enduring a trial that you think will break you — that’s not decorating. That’s demolition.
That’s Him tearing out what was never going to hold, and rebuilding you on a foundation that will.

This world was never meant to be our permanent address.
He’s building us for eternity.
He doesn’t want you to only allow a little touch-up here and there. He wants total surrender: to wreck your foundation and rebuild it into something spirit-led and heaven-bound.

So — where’s the hammering loudest for you right now?
What’s He tearing out to make room for something new?

It was a day much like today…the hot, last lazy days of summer…

45 years ago, early this morning, she came into this world—silent, without a cry, never to take a breath.

She was perfect in every way.
Rosebud nose.
Light brown hair.
Tiny fingers and toes.
A miniature of my own baby picture.

Lost in the shuffle of three stillbirths that week at the hospital, she never had her photo taken.
All I have are these tiny black prints on this page, and her face, forever emblazoned in my memory.

It gets easier, but it never goes away.

I think of what she would look like.
Would she have hobbies like mine?
Would she have beautiful babies of her own?
What would her life look like?

The gracious God above brought us to Himself through this excruciatingly painful loss of our firstborn, and I will forever be grateful.
Yes, it was awful, God—but through our suffering after her death, He called us, and we heard His voice and have never looked back.

God sometimes uses the worst things that could ever happen to bring us to that place where we call out for rescue and salvation—the place where we realize how sinful and lost we really are, and how very little we can do on our own.

Don’t fret, friend.
No matter what awful thing you’re enduring, He may be calling your name.
Take time to listen and respond.
It WILL change your life!

I WILL be reunited with this precious baby again, and I look forward to that day. 🥲❤️
