The Archangel Michael (Michele in Italian) depicted in a victorious pose defeating a dragon. The sculpture features detailed wings and, according to popular lore, distinct colored eyes.The Emerald Legend: Local legend claims that on bright, sunny days, a green sparkle can be seen gleaming from the statue. Tradition holds that a real emerald is hidden somewhere on the surface, though no such stone has ever been found. Our friend Roberto from Lucca showed us a sparkle of light you can see if you stand in a certain spot and it’s a mystery. If you zoom in you can see it in photo 2.
