I hope this book isn't for you. Hopefully it's not something that you relate to, but unfortunately I can almost guarantee you know someone who will.

It's not innovative self-help, or a well-researched therapy guide, and it's definitely not a coffee table memoir.

It's meant to be a friend who "gets it" for folks who aren't sure such a person exists anymore.

It's easy to think of all the things we would like to have. However, the more time we spend focusing on the good that we're already experiencing, the less we long for those things that remain outside of our reach.

I don't mean just paste a happy face on whatever circumstances are hitting you. But rather, build the habit of acknowledging and appreciating the aspects that are actually quite smooth and pleasant.

When we do this, our mind naturally becomes filled with positive thoughts, and we don't need to try and trick it into feeling good even though we may be struggling.

I'm not sure of all the metaphysics behind it, but somehow our immediate unconscious is often smarter than our reasonable, mostly intelligent brain.

Put the overthinking on hold, believe your uncanny internal senses, and move forward with confidence.

There are many aspects to healing. Seems like few of them are pleasant at the time.

I hope to publish my book in the next few days. It's not a guide on how to heal, but rather an attempt to ease others pain by simply being available and saying, "Yes, it's hard."

I realize that for some, over-giving has been the challenge and this quote may not fit quite the same. I guess it would be better to say "balanced giving" which rules out the one-sided version that can be harmful.

My journey was the opposite, and I think humanity in general would benefit from an outward, other-centered viewpoint that is less selfish and looking for ways to make others' lives better.
