Never underestimate where you’re from.
The same streets that watched you grow up can one day celebrate what you became.
Thank you, 🙏🏽 ❤️ Brookland. This one means way more than you know. #dc #turkeythicket #michiganpark #helenparker taken in Washington D. C. by @terrytrross

As I stand on that @carnegiehall stage I realized “Your beginnings do not determine your destiny.” To curate events at one of the most prestigious venues in the world wasn’t something expected of me. Proof that purpose can take you places your circumstances said you’d never reach. I want to THANK!!! ALL the people that believed in my vision especially ALL the executives and staff at Carnegie. As I read all the txt and calls, made me understand to never take moments like this for granted. 🙏🏾 you GOD for blessing my path!!! #PowerNetwork #CarnegieHall #TRRoss #LegacyInMotion taken in Carnegie Hall by @terrytrross

Have things gotten better over the years for creatives/artists coming out of the DC/DMV area or do you think folks still have to leave here to reach their full potential??? What are your thoughts?

I've always said that growing up in the DC streets in the 70s, 80s and 90s would either make or break you if you were REALLY outside lol. Consciously or subconsciously, it prepared you for anything! Historically, we've only had a select few natives that got into the music business and successfully take it to the next level, nationally and internationally.

I can go back as far as the early to mid 70s, my mother loved herself some Van McCoy and she would remind me every chance she'd get that he was from the city lol. Salute to @terrytrross for continuing to elevate the game in true, DC fashion 💯🔥🫡 #PreserveTheCulture #TheRealDC

MESSAGE TO THE YOUNGINS ➡️ There is a very small percentage of negative situations that can't be talked out! Life is precious and you should make it a goal to grow older and be able to sit around and laugh about the "good ol days" with your Homies...even if your level of petty is like these two TERRY and THAXTON 🤔😂🤣💎 #PreserveTheCulture #TheRealDC

CARNEGIE HALL. ESSENCE. HISTORY.

Proud to announce our partnership with ESSENCE as we bring the inaugural ESSENCE Women’s Panel to the Power Network stage at Carnegie Hall.

Featuring the phenomenal Kay Malcolm, Beatrice Dixon, Arian Simone, and Raquel Oden, moderated by Kirk McDonald.
@iamkaymalcolm @iambeadixon @ariansimone @racqueloden
These women aren’t just leaders in their fields—they are architects of opportunity, builders of wealth, and examples of what’s possible when vision meets execution.

On June 19, we’ll gather for a conversation about leadership, legacy, business, influence, and the future.

Some stages host performances.

Carnegie Hall will host power. 🔥
