Today would have been my mom’s 68th birthday. Many of you know, I lost her rather quickly and unexpectedly to lymphoma last November, two weeks before my son was born. I miss her so incredibly much every single day. She was a truly wonderful person, so kind, and so involved in her community. As a retired librarian, she was especially invested in making sure kids were excited about reading and had access to books. She curated an incredible collection of children’s books for my son, celebrating different cultures and backgrounds, and had planned to spend as much time as possible reading them to him.

To honor her legacy, Taylor of @royla.lee created a beautiful polish to benefit Room to Read, an organization focused on literacy and gender equality. Before I share swatches, I first wanted to showcase this gorgeous polish, named Once Upon a Memory, in nail art! This book image was one of my mom’s favorites - she would’ve loved this mani and for sure worn it herself. She would’ve loved the color of her polish, too - I often picked up extras of Taylor’s blues, teals, and purples to send to her. I used Once Upon a Memory here with a few others from the May collection, which I wait to show more of soon!

Today I just have a little neon mani! I know most people like neon for summer, but it’s been grey and rainy here so honestly I think it’s a good time to brighten things up! I used @wildflowerlacquer Fish Upon a Star over a gradient of @hit_the_bottle 🩷 The Heat is On, 🧡 Sunglasses at Night, 💛 Rebel Yellow, 💚 Come On Lime Green, 💙 Six Months in a Leaky Boat, and 💜 I Just Can’t Get Enough. Absolutely love this combination!!

Hi everyone! It is almost time for another @polishpickup, so here are my swatches of the absolutely stunning shade from @royla.lee! OMW to Curse Your Ass is a vibrant green base with glowly blue/purple shimmer. This may stain as green pigments often do, please wear a good base coat, although I personally had no staining. I’ve shown it here in two easy coats plus Royla Lee’s Through the Looking Glass top coat.

Hey everyone! The @royla.lee shop is open but I wanted to share individual swatches of the Pink Perfection trio since all I shared was a collage! Last but not least is Pink is My Personality - a magenta pink base with purple to pink shifting shimmer. My favorite of the trio because the shimmer is just absolutely perfection!! I made sure to get 10 backups so I never run out haha. And I’m wearing it again this week as my official birthday mani! 37 sure looks good on my nails! Last but not least is Peculiar Potion - Inspired by old amber apothecary bottles filled with mysterious potions, tinctures, and remedies. This is an amber brown with purple to green aurora shimmer, reflective glitter, and scattered holographic glitter. Next up is Black Feather - Inspired by the dark, glossy feathers of ravens and crows, long associated with mystery and folklore. This is a deep blackened navy base with purple to teal aurora shimmer and reflective glitter. This may stain but I had no issues. That said, my swatches do not do it justice! In person it’s so elegant and sparkly and gorgeous!!! I’ve shown each here in two easy coats plus Royla Lee’s Through the Looking Glass top coat.

Next up is CuriASSities Unlimited - Every cabinet of curiosities needs at least one oddity. 😏 This is a rusty orange base with green to blue shifting shimmer (the “ass” shimmer from recent polishes). I love this combo of base color and shimmer, and it’s so good for fall! I’ve shown each here in two easy coats plus Royla Lee’s Through the Looking Glass top coat.

Next up is Memento Mori - Latin for “remember you must die, a phrase commonly found in Victorian art. This is an intentional dupe of The Crowening, although it is a different shimmer. This is a dark purple base with pink red to gold to orange to green shifting shimmer and holographic flakes. I’ve shown each here in two easy coats plus Royla Lee’s Through the Looking Glass top coat.

This is a red cousin to Foxfire, and is a red base with red to gold microflake shimmer. This may stain, although again I had no issues when swatching. I’ve shown each here in two easy coats plus Royla Lee’s Through the Looking Glass top coat.
