W H A T ‘ S N E X T ?

I just got off a call that made me so excited to get back to life at Harvard. Of all to come, I’m most excited to support a new initiative that deeply inspires me.
It’s led by two civil rights leaders: one a former president of the NAACP —and the other a leader in the cases to defend Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown.
Together, they started Harvard’s first ever social justice center.
Their work has a clear focus on creating structural change around three issues very close to my heart: voter suppression, mass incarceration, and police brutality.

Whatever this new chapter brings, I vow to live out the promise we all made to each other as our last chapter closed: to dream bigger and fight harder than ever before 🖤 taken in Harvard University by @tessakaneene

RIP to our superwoman, our sunshine, and our sweet angel.

We lost the most gentle, brilliant & loving soul.

Our brightest light & the strongest fighter, she fought until her very last breath yesterday after an 8 year battle & Stage IV cancer.
...
Maama, I love you until the end of time, with every ounce of my being & every piece of my soul.

I will carry your warm heart so tightly inside of mine with all that I am & with all that I have.

The greatest honor of my entire life will always be being your daughter.

You were more than my mother.
You were my person.
You were the light of my life.
And forever and ever will be.

I promise to try (and fail and try again) to live out your powerful legacy with every breath I take.

We ALWAYS said that we wanted to come up with a word stronger than “love” to describe our deepest feelings, including our bond.

We never had the chance to establish that word but I hope whatever it’s called, you’re experiencing it X a million as your beautiful soul dances in heaven❤️ by @tessakaneene
