A garland of wildflowers around the ceiling of the 18th century Orangery at Frampton Court, working from life and from our sample boards while flowers come in and out of season and days rain or shine. It has felt like making a real flower garland, growing and building and pruning until the balance feels right around the room.

Studies of wildflowers by Elizabeth, Charlotte and Catherine Clifford painted between 1828-1851 in this Orangery were discovered in the attic of @frampton_court_estate over a century after they were painted. Known as the ‘Frampton Flora’, they provide a record of the estate flora at that time. The style of these paintings became the starting point for our mural, with flowers particular to the estate - Green-Winged Orchid, Lady’s Smock and Japanese Quince - interspersed with wild strawberry, forget-me-not and snowdrops. The garland could only exist in a painted world, seasons coming together as one.

It’s been an absolute joy to be part of such a personal project for the Clifford family, adding another chapter to the history of this magical building. You can even book to stay in The Orangery - see their page! 🌿 taken in Frampton Court Estate by @tessnewallstudio

Herbarium Ditsy ~ just the right side of sweet 🥀

Printed in England, the wallpaper brings the joy of a country meadow, with scattered buttercups, daisies, forget-me-nots and wild roses. The florals have been handpainted by Tess before being placed onto a soft lime washed ground. Available in Blush and Ivory ground colours. by @tessnewallstudio
