POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
On the drive to my Yarrawonga event today, I got word from my amazing publisher Ali that you wonderful people made The Cairo Bridal Shop enter the official Australian bestseller charts (Bookscan) in its release week in the top 5 highest selling Australian novels. To be instantly charting on the bestseller list is the dream!

To everyone who bought a copy this week, or preordered a copy, thank you with all of my heart. YOU did this!

I’m on the way to another event at Wangaratta now. I hope they have double sized doors there because my big head sure ain’t fitting through a normal sized one.

You can find the linktree link to buy The Cairo Bridal Shop by clicking here on my profile: @tesswoods_author
If nothing else, buy it as a dare to see how insufferable I’ll be if it remains in the charts next week! taken in Yarrawonga, Victoria by @tesswoods_author

The Cairo Bridal Shop is a story about three sisters who disappear, the old seamstress who holds the secrets and the brides whose stories are a modern day retelling of the lives of the ancient Pharaoh queens.

It’s published by @penguinbooksaus and it’s out now in Australia in paperback in stores and online, and as an audiobook and ebook. You’ll find the linktree link to buy it in my profile here: @tesswoods_author

This is the book of my heart and my heritage.

If you loved my last novel, The Venice Hotel, I hope you love this one even more!

Please help me spread the word to find my readers.

A post in celebration of my beautiful angel Sally. I met Sal when our oldest children were 5 years old and they started school together (they’re just about to turn 27). I offered her a job at our physio clinic and she’s been the person outside of my home that I’ve spent the most time with in my life ever since she became my receptionist.
Sally has not only been faultless at her job, beloved by all our staff and patients over the years, she’s also one of my dearest and most trusted friends who has had my back through many of life’s ups and downs. Never a cross word has passed between us in all these years working so closely together 💕
Today we had high tea to say goodbye because it’s now time for Sally’s well deserved retirement, and I feel like I’m losing an arm!
I will miss you so SO much Sal, thank you for everything and have the happiest retirement ever being a nanna! taken in The Breakwater Bar Hillarys Boat Harbour by @tesswoods_author

There’s no better feeling than watching library staff run to grab more chairs because more people than booked in turned up!
A bumper crowd at AHBracks library last night. I’m so touched by the way Perth has shown up for me for this book - 3 events and a total just shy of 500 people. Blown away, thank you to every reader and writer who made the effort to come out and chat.

The best part of these events is meeting readers and writers and last night was no different, I met so many gorgeous gorgeous people! I was signing books and hearing their stories for well over an hour again.
Heart full ❤️

A beautiful conversation was led by the warm and generous and intuitive @lorrainehorsleyauthor who is so skilled at this!

Not one, not two but six of the Dymocks staff across two stores @dymockshayst and @dymocksbooragoon came to support. Beautiful @romantasiege not only drove me in after I signed copies in her store (so much lovelier than the Uber from hell I rode in to get to the store!) but she also took these great crowd shots too. Even the doyenne of Dymocks, Ann Poublon was in the front row. Thank you for all the love to store manager John and the team!

Thank you once again Perth. Big Sky Festival and a tour down south to go and the whole book tour is finished. Then I lock in for the @festivaloffiction ❤️ taken in AH Bracks Library + Creative Space by @tesswoods_author

I had an amazing event tonight at AH Bracks Library in Perth that I’ll collate photos for and post properly about later.
But I’m in the Uber home now and I wanted a place on the grid just for this beautiful soul.
This is Kathryn.
In 2009 I had an idea for a novel I felt compelled to write even though I was a busy physio with two small kids and no writing background.
I wrote the story and then gave it to the only author I knew for her opinion, a teacher who published non-fiction curriculum books for the education department, my friend Amelia.
Amelia left my printed out pages on a table. Kathryn was visiting Amelia that weekend, and out of curiosity she started to read the pages on the table, and then spent the rest of the weekend reading!
Kathryn and I had never met, she had no idea who I was, but she wrote me a handwritten note to tell me how much she loved the story and that she was sure it would be published one day and become a bestseller.
Amelia gave me the note. I didn’t meet Kathryn or get in touch with her but that note was such a comfort to me through the dark years of rejection after rejection.
Seven years after Kathryn wrote the note, my debut was published. I met her for the first time at that book launch.
She’s been to every one of my book launches since and tonight she was there again for my fifth book.
My very first fan who became my beloved friend.
Love you K.
And I still have the note xxx taken in AH Bracks Library + Creative Space by @tesswoods_author

My friend Carly Findlay had ovarian cancer. She’s doing Frocktober - raising funds and awareness for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.  Carly wants people to know the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer so it can be detected as early as possible.

Here are the signs and symptoms to look out for:

Increased abdominal size or persistent abdominal bloating
Feeling full after eating a small amount
Abdominal or pelvic (lower tummy) pain
Needing to urinate often or urgently
Unexplained weight loss or gain
Changes in bowel patterns
Indigestion, reflux or nausea
Lower back pain or cramps
Excessive or unexplained fatigue
Bleeding after menopause or in-between periods
Pain during intercourse and/or bleeding after
(Source: Ovarian Cancer
Research Foundation)

Donate to Carly’s Frocktober page: @carlyfindlay

And Carly asks that you share this post please. Thank you 💕

Hooray, hooray it’s Love Your Bookshop Day!

@loveyourbookshopau celebrates our beloved Australian independent booksellers and everything they do for the Australian community of readers and writers.

I spent the day hopping around bookshops in Perth, signing copies of The Cairo Bridal Shop and spreading the love by giving the amazing booksellers bars of my homemade Rocky Road.

I had surprise catchups with lovely friends @rachaeljohnsisanauthor @antheahodgson @shannon_meyerkort @louise_burlinson and @bethlikessushi
Such a happy day!

Can we all agree about how gorgeous Perth’s indie bookshops are?

I bought HOLLYWOOD ENDING by John Green, WELCOME TO THE KOKORO CAT CLINIC by Syou Ishida and PEOPLE SKILLS by Australia’s own Nina Kenwood.

You can now find signed copies of The Cairo Bridal Shop at the following independent bookshops:

Diabolik Books and Records in Mt Hawthorn

First Saturday morning in 6 weeks that I’m in my garden 💕The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, I’m onto my second cup of tea, I’ve restocked my little library, have chatted with three lots of neighbours walking their dogs, and I’ve nearly finished this breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL novel.
Heaven, heaven, heaven! I’m just so happy to be home ❤️

I’m about to hit up lots of indie bookshops with my husband to sign copies of my book and celebrate @loveyourbookshopau so my day is all set 😍

This book though! The Parisian Corset is by debut Australian author Katrina Lawrence (@parisfordreamers ) It’s coming out in December, so look out for it as a perfect Christmas gift. It’s set in Paris on the cusp of World War 2 and reminds me a lot of The French Photographer. The fashion setting and main character are also reminiscent of Ladies in Black, so if you loved those books, you’ll love this. Katrina writes with such beauty and has made me ache for Paris.

Happy weekend everyone 💕 taken in Perth, Western Australia by @tesswoods_author

I left Perth on 1 September, which was the day The Cairo Bridal Shop hit bookstore shelves, so I didn’t get a chance to sign any copies in my hometown apart from the stock at my prerelease events.

Now that I’m back home, today I started visiting local bookshops. Thank you for being so welcoming, lovely booksellers!

Of course I forgot to take a single photo and only realised at the end of the day 🤦🏻‍♀️ so here are beautiful sisters Theresa and Clare from @dymocksellenbrook representing all the other wonderful booksellers I chatted with today ❤️

You can now find signed copies of The Cairo Bridal Shop at the following stores:
QBD Ocean Keys
QBD Joondalup
QBD Whitfords
QBD Innaloo
Dymocks Ellenbrook
Dymocks Morley
Dymocks Subiaco
Dymocks Karrinyup

LOTS more bookshops to visit tomorrow and in the coming weeks so stay tuned for more! 😍 by @tesswoods_author
