After reading the open letter from more than 1,000 frontier AI employees calling for ways to deliberately pace AI development, I had to write a response. Rather than asking how we slow AI down, I argue that we should be asking a different question: What kind of world are we building AI to serve? This paper grows out of more than a year of developing the TevAI framework, bringing together Jewish thought, environmental stewardship, education, and AI into a single conversation.
