Yes I worked my butt of to make this team. But I wouldn’t have done it without the help of not only Pāpā Wētini, but ALL the TB Ladies (no lies, even our babygirls gave me strength🥹🥰). They accepted me as I am, and acknowledged my skills and contribution to our team. 🦋 Your name has meaning and power!

Call it superstition if you want, but there are many cases in Te Ao Māori where the name of the person has influenced their trajectory in life, whether it be in good or bad ways. So my family has been taught to always be intentional and careful when naming our babies.

- My name is Te Wairere.
- I am ‘The Waterfall’.
- I came out like a waterfall, gushing water and all🤣
- There was a waterfall mural in one of the rooms Mum stayed in while pregnant with me.
- My Taranaki matriarchs have names starting with ‘Te Wai’.
- I am also named after one of our ancestors & tribe, Wairere, as a form of thanks to our GTOWN family and whenua for always looking after us.
