Trying my best here to capture the feel of the 51st Anniversary celebration of @hobbitcafe this past weekend. I wish I had gotten a little snippet of each vendor but y’all know how markets are, you get what you can. Meeting Raymond, one of the founders and getting to say thank you for creating this wonderful place was a highlight! Half a century of business ain’t no small thing! Every member of staff operated like family, the kind that really enjoys each others company and that really stuck out to me. Thank you everyone, especially to @tulipposse and John for making Ava and I feel so welcomed. We easily folded in with everyone and felt right at home. 💚 I used to come to the cafe and quietly geek out to myself and whoever I could rope into coming to my favorite spot. It’s pretty cool that now I know some names to the faces at my favorite joint in Houston and practically anywhere. If you’re ever in the area do yourself a solid and give this place a visit! by @texan_folk

Just felt like being seen on here today. I’ve been feeling preoccupied with thoughts of The Cure, lately. Always this time of year right before Autumn it seems to settle over me. I’ve got one single Austin market I’m preparing for in September, should be a good icebreaker for me as I’ve become so comfortable in this safe little house. I’m tired of this emotional, artistic and social atrophy of grieving a living person.
I gave all my market materials away so it’ll be a blank canvas, a fresh expression out there if I do slide into some markets. It’s a nice feeling ✨ #thecure #robertsmith by @texan_folk

Choosing the dumbest picture of me as the intro for a certain buoyancy. I look stupid but I do look happy. ❤️
My friend @lleahlegend came over to shoot my living room for this project simply because I asked her to.
That’s all. No trades or favors. Just friendship stuff. Fellow creatives having fun kind of stuff. So little of that these days in my personal experience but I’m actively mining for some more local friends who wanna do creative things around here in my zip code. I’m tired of driving all the way out and staying late to hang around for fun. It’s gotta be simpler like when we were kids. This whole setup was inspired by that time in life, actually. When we glommed onto each other and hung out in our tacky ass rooms with whatever magazine pages and posters we could cover our walls with.
The difference now is we’re all grown up and have our own money to curate a much better wall and access to an endless array of cool and unique adornments.

If you’re looking to purchase something like that for your own space I’m selling the Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Doors handmade flags for $150 each ❤️ Yep, this did turn into an ad but I figure I’m still a working artist with a lot left in these hands even if I’m a quieter presence online. 🙏🏼
Last thing, if you’re in the Katy area I’ll be hosting some craft days or some kind of days just to see what’ll happen when we mix it up a little around here. If you’re interested in that lemme know! by @texan_folk

Never ideal. Always real. ❤️
Christmas 2025 is the year of revelation of unearned gifts. The gift of a love that is bestowed not earned. Freely given, no tricks, no favoritism, no hoops. The foundation prayer this year is that we would recognize the love that is freely given and reject the counterfeit of “earning love”. It was a beautiful, holy, fragile yet harmonious Christmas Day that I am relishing yet. ❤️ by @texan_folk

First off, I want to dedicate this song to all my kids. I love you guys and there’s no family on this earth quite like us. I hope you come to know how wonderfully peculiar and beautiful you each are.
Every now and then I’ll feel like “ok, it’s time.” I can live fully in my craft and get back out there. We have to get back out there in some way and we can’t just semi pause forever. But it’s not all set right yet and I feel like going forward without every piece of my family intact and healthy and close to my arms betrays my true heart. It feels like mourning for the living and there’s no stages to actually get through. It feels like limbo and redundancy. It feels like I am two people living in one body. The me who is present, trying, making, doing, smiling, hugging, consoling, helping, protecting, celebrating all the new loves, first jobs, undefeated seasons and personal wins happening in my kids lives. The me who is heartbroken while holding the line.
The me who is holding my breath. Calculating, pondering where you are, how long will this season last, will your heart understand my choices at the finish line and the me who is never ever ever not thinking of you.
Writing publicly about matters of the heart feels like a betrayal, a moronic move. Feeding the casual voyeurs who just rubberneck and never speak to you but sometimes maybe only about you, always collecting little breadcrumbs and never leaving any themselves. As is the nature of all this. It’s basically a daytime television replacement for both genders. We watch. We take a little bit in and mostly shit it out.
But reading someone else say the things we don’t talk about has been a lifeline for me. When I feel like my rope is running out I find throwing what I have left for someone else helps. For every 200 voyeurs there may be one person in the same private trenches who can grab the rope. We can offer our wares and we can talk about life if we want to. I’m tired of trying to find the balance.
I wanna be a real family more than anything else.

Thank you @colorblind.potato for taking this pic of me & Emily. You’re in a very niche pocket of people who uses their talents/tools to freely bless others 🙏🏼 by @texan_folk

I know it’s deep in November but I’ve gotta lay down some family documenting of our favorite season. Everyone’s been drained lately and we almost didn’t have our Huey Halloween party but squeezed one out super last minute. I really missed having friends gather for it but it didn’t feel right to not do this one single tradition we’ve created as a family. What even is the point of it all if we don’t make the derpy Oreo monsters??? The Hueys don’t quit, ya know?
This was my first year to not trick or treat alongside at least one kid and honestly I don’t really enjoy this transitional void as a mom. I’m gonna have to find something to nurture in this interim space between grown kids and future grandbabies. It’s an interesting season for sure. Grown kids, mostly grown kids. One kid out there finding their way without us. Kids online reading their mom’s cringey ass captions. Carefully sharing my life without over sharing stories that aren’t just my own. The delicate dance of it all. Social media, mothering, business, it’s all in a deep transition. 🧡 by @texan_folk

I used to have a vintage toys and family blog with about 30 followers and it was wildly fulfilling. I honestly miss that part of the internet. The blog was sadly traded in for faster output when I got my first smartphone and I’m ten years deep in an instagram situation that’s gone from just documenting a family I adore and keeping record of milestones to becoming a loosely functional business account around my creations. Now I’ve arrived at whatever era this is with a prettier home and feeler prettier, myself. It all feels so much lighter. Instagram is not a tool in service to me anymore and I am not in service to it. I seek not to convince, to inform, to sell. Oh, let me be clear, I have some things to sell. I always have things to sell because I’m a Maker and a collector at heart 😂
I just mean, I don’t think about how I’m going to sell it to you anymore. The people who liked me in my industrious days don’t talk to me anymore and I realize that I am not a peer to entrepreneurs any longer. The people who liked me because I was consistently outspoken don’t really talk to me either and I am not a peer to anyone it feels. I feel peerless.
I feel detached in a clean and honest way.
I might fuck around and get so free that I sell some things again without feeling like a douchebag.
🥂 to all the peerless mamas and papas out there❤️ by @texan_folk

Thinking how silly it was that I sat outside the Texaco crying in my little truck to this song at 19. A child born and lost to me, a marriage already broken down before I even came of age. I felt every inch of this song in that parking lot. Or I thought I did….
All these years later and this song just grows deeper roots in me. I marvel at the lyrics that tether to every season of a woman’s life. A song for mothers, for women who lived the fullest experience of regret, sacrifice, showing up, owning up and making amends.
I’ve been so hesitant to show up in this space and document my family for a few reasons but one reason is the most painful, the hardest of all. I have watched in silence as some of the mothers I know here have said goodbye to their children in this plain. The worst fears I spent every day with years were realized for them and there is a measure of guilt in having made it out of the worst years without paying the final cost. It is such a strange way to be human, these limiting little boxes where we preen, sell, rant and celebrate for the eyes of strangers. If you are a mother who grieves, I am so sorry for the unjustness of this world. It is a ravenous world of wolves in sheep’s clothing and we are losing too many of our babies to them. I feel animalistic rage towards all the groomers, pushers, sellers, adult “allies” with perverse intent, peers who pressure without an ounce of conviction and anyone who places bricks in the wall between a Mother and Child relationship. I wish I could expose and rightfully deal with them all on your behalf and mine. I wish I could slap my hand across the mouths and silence all the people shouting their political “solutions” and blame who have never had to fight this culture and world system for their kids life. I am so very heartbroken for all the Mothers who carry on without their child. It is a weight that cannot be explained, only felt. There is no appropriate way to end this sentiment, it is beyond me. I only felt that I needed to say something after not saying anything for so long. by @texan_folk

We are back 🍻
Shoutout to my off the net son, Gabriel, who loves me and is nuanced enough to know that he’s helping me help him when we do these douchey internet things.
Shoutout to @winterland.productions for making some of the coolest ts I grew up with and being a source of inspiration in returning to a Texan Folks root project, the concert t flags.
I’ve got a few more of these flags coming out that I’ll be sharing and making available for purchase very soon. Thanks for all the years, guys. Texan Folk will be ten years old this next spring and I’m so proud to have a little “family business” to call our own. by @texan_folk

Just tryna figure out how to love my country while not being bamboozled into supporting the never ending wars. The prominent two parties are both soiled in blood and corruption. We have a wicked system in place and I can’t support none of it, as I believe God is the author and finisher of our fates. by @texan_folk
