Thank you to everyone who joined us for “Voices of the Middle East” with Fatema Al Harabi, Jonathan Elkhoury, and Noa Tishby. It was wonderful to have a full house for a conversation that felt both timely and hopeful. We heard insights from our speakers that gave us hope, and questions from our students that made us proud, and made all of us think. These are exactly the kinds of conversations we want our students to experience on campus: thoughtful, challenging, hopeful, and grounded in the possibility of what we can build together.

Hi! My name is Emma Friedman and I am a sophomore math major. I have found such an amazing and inclusive Jewish community here at Hillel and met some of my closest friends. I especially love coming to Hillel every Friday night for Shabbat and greeting people at the front while working as an FII. by @texashillel

TEXAS HILLEL X CHAI VEKAYAM 🧡

This collection was designed by Sage Oravitz and Hannah Kaffee, members of Texas Hillel’s student executive cabinet. This set is a comfortable way to proudly represent Jewish life at The University of Texas at Austin wherever you go.

Texas Hillel is a home away from home for Jewish students in Austin—a place to meet new people, celebrate holidays and Shabbat, explore Jewish identity, and build a community. Through meaningful programs and shared traditions, Texas Hillel helps students make the Forty Acres feel a little more like home.

18% of all proceeds will go directly back to Texas Hillel, helping support the programs, celebrations, Shabbat dinners, and experiences that bring Jewish Longhorns together. Hook ’em! by @texashillel

We’re excited to partner with FIDF Austin for an evening of social activities with IDF reservists who are visiting town as part of “The Day After.” The Day After is an Israel NGO focused on emotional processing, resilience, and community-based support for reservists and communities affected by war. This is accomplished by curating journeys for IDF teams to the diaspora to engage with Jewish communities around the world. This program consists of one week of daily therapeutic programing for the traveling team led by The Day After staff followed by programing with the Austin community. by @texashillel

Have you ever wondered about all the books we have upstairs at Texas Hillel?! Me too! Come and help us with the big undertaking of going through our libraries and deciding what we want to keep, what we want to give to students (free books!) and what we want to donate. The more the merrier!!!! Yummy snacks will be provided, of course 🤘 by @texashillel

I got my Star of David Necklace in high school from an Israeli small business. It reminds me every day of Jewish resilience and standing up to antisemitism. I love wearing it every day and it reminds me of who I am and to be proud of my Judaism. by @texashillel

Thank you to everyone who came to today’s October 7 vigil on campus. It meant a lot to be there together and to have the chance to share a few words.

Swipe to read the full speech I gave today.

I hope to see many of you tomorrow at Hillel, where I’ll be sharing more of my story and the story of Nahal Oz ❤️‍🩹🌹 by @texashillel
