Coming to Texas theaters September 25! We’re proud to share the official trailer for “Deep in the Heart 2: Texas Rivers,” from the team at @finandfurfilms.

Narrated by @ethanhawke, the film is a celebration of the springs, creeks, rivers, and bays that define the Lone Star State. From the rugged Rio Grande to the thriving waters of the Sabine and Neches, the film encounters resilient otter families, strutting turkeys, and mysterious Alligator Snapping Turtles along the way.

From navigating conflict to finding innovative solutions for tomorrow’s challenges, today’s water leaders must be equipped with a range of skills.

Kicking off the fall session, Texas Water Leaders (TWL) worked on those skills with experts from the field. To make the sessions even more special, we brought TWL alumni who have applied those skills into the workshops. Last week, they came full circle to share that applied experience with current class members.

Thank you to our speakers who shared their expertise and made these sessions memorable. by @texaswaterfoundation

TWF staff are staying connected to the conversations shaping Texas’ water future. 💧

From data centers and state water planning to groundwater management and developing the next generation of water leaders, our team is bringing a statewide perspective to water as a policy priority.

This month:
• Alan Leonard, Director of Policy, spoke on data centers at the Environmental Law Superconference in Austin and on state water planning at the Post Oak Savannah GCD Groundwater Summit in Caldwell.
• TWL Program Manager Josh Sendajar spoke at the Groundwater Management Districts Association conference in Lubbock about the importance of investing in the next generation of water leaders and reconnecting with Texas Water Leader alumni.

We’re proud to see our team sharing ideas, building connections, and helping advance the conversations that matter for Texas water. by @texaswaterfoundation

Our 2026 Rainmakers were born before the drought of the 1950s transformed Texas from rural to urban. They started their professional careers as Neil Armstrong took the first steps on the moon and as Texas voters narrowly decided against funding a canal to the Mississippi with nuclear-powered pumps.

More than the sum of their achievements, this year’s Rainmaker award celebrates what Sansom, Golemon, and Kramer have in common to tell a new story about what Texas water will need in the future; building bridges and solutions that benefit people, industry, and the environment.
