TEXNIC® HIGHFIVE fabric has been used in a new backpack by @blackyak.official Designed for both everyday use and light hiking, the backpack features a compact silhouette and practical outdoor functionality. The outer fabric uses TEXNIC® HIGHFIVE, made by recycling discarded separator film generated during EV battery separator manufacturing. HIGHFIVE is designed with a balanced 5:5 warp-and-weft construction, creating a dense and well-balanced fabric structure while providing strong waterproof performance with breathability. A material once discarded in an industrial process now finds a new role in an outdoor product. TEXNIC® continues to create new applications for materials. TEXNIC®의 HIGHFIVE 원단이 BLACKYAK의 26FW 신제품 ‘소랜10’에 적용되었습니다. 소랜10은 컴팩트한 사이즈와 슬림한 실루엣으로 일상부터 가벼운 하이킹까지 활용할 수 있는 백팩입니다. 제품의 겉감에는 전기차 배터리 분리막 제조 과정에서 발생한 폐분리막을 재활용한 TEXNIC®의 HIGHFIVE가 사용되었습니다. Not visible in everyday life, but battery separator films are continuously discarded during the manufacturing process. Even small defects make them unusable, leaving large amounts of this industrial material unused. These films are hidden inside batteries, so most people never actually see them, yet the volume is far from insignificant. ⠀ TEXNIC® utilizes these discarded separators as they are and transforms them into new materials. Using what is wasted more efficiently and turning it into higher-value products. This collection draws inspiration from the Whiplash Curve of Belgian Art Nouveau, reinterpreting organic curves from nature and structural patterns into contemporary functional wear. ⠀ EMBLUX, used in this collection, is a laminated fabric developed by TEXNIC®. By utilizing the characteristics of PE film, it creates a distinctive embossed texture. The material combines structural surface depth with both functionality and visual density. ⠀ When brands and materials from different backgrounds meet, new outcomes emerge. Younhyun Material Library is a space dedicated to exploring materials, where architects and designers can see and experience a wide range of architectural and interior finishes. It functions as both an archive of material research and a starting point for new ideas. ⠀ TEXNIC® upcycled separator fabrics are now exhibited in this space. ⠀ TEXNIC® transforms unused EV battery separator films into functional textiles without shredding or remelting them. By preserving the original polymer structure and converting the film through lamination or yarn processing, industrial materials once discarded due to minor defects gain a new application. ⠀ The sample can be found at Shelf 13. Sustainability at Younhyun Material Library. ⠀ ⠀ 윤현상재 머티리얼 라이브러리는 건축·인테리어 자재를 중심으로 다양한 소재를 직접 보고 탐구할 수 있는 공간입니다. 재료의 물성과 가능성을 연구하는 아카이브이자, 창작의 출발점이 되는 장소입니다. ⠀ 이 공간에 TEXNIC®의 분리막 업사이클 원단이 전시되었습니다. ⠀ TEXNIC®은 사용되지 못한 전기차 배터리 분리막 필름을 분쇄하거나 재용융하지 않고, 원래의 구조를 유지한 채 라미네이팅하거나 원사로 가공해 기능성 패브릭으로 전환합니다. 작은 결함으로 폐기되던 산업 소재가 새로운 쓰임을 갖게 된 것입니다. ⠀ 해당 샘플은 윤현상재 머티리얼 라이브러리 ‘13. Is change really happening? ⠀ The textile industry has long accepted many things as a given — familiar materials, repeated processes, predictable choices. TEXNIC® began by questioning those assumptions. ⠀ <NEW WAVE> The starting point of this exhibition was a material completely unrelated to textiles: EV battery separators. ⠀ This ultra-thin industrial film, once discarded for even the smallest defect, was laminated, micro-slit, and transformed into fabric and yarn. ⠀ Choosing questions over answers. Seeing waste not as an end, but a beginning. ⠀ BREAK THE NORM. That was the message TEXNIC® shared through this exhibition. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 지난 6월, TEXNIC®은 하나의 질문에서 전시를 시작했습니다. 섬유 산업은 정말 변화하고 있는가? ⠀ 익숙한 소재, 반복되는 공정.
