Peace isn’t something we simply hope for. It’s something we can teach. That’s the heart of why Kójọ & Friends was created. At Teens Going for Gold Network (TGFGN), we believe every teenager deserves the opportunity to learn the values that help them build healthy relationships, think critically, resolve conflict peacefully and become ambassadors of peace in their schools, homes and communities. If we want a more peaceful Nigeria, we have to start with the teenagers we’re raising today. To partner with us, sponsor a Peace Ambassador by helping a teenager own their copy of Kójọ & Friends. One copy of Kójọ & Friends costs ₦2,500. Welcome to TGFGN 2.0! You've probably heard of Teens Going for Gold Network and what we've done, but do you know what we now do? Since our founding, we've been a force for fostering education within and outside the classroom for (underserved) teenagers across Nigeria. But now…we're refocusing our scope on peace education and streamlining our work while also deepening our impact across Nigeria. Our mission? To foster sustainable peace and development in Nigeria through tailored education in the most at-risk communities. We’d love to have you come on this new adventure with us. Stay tuned to learn more about our programmes and initiatives! 🎥 @toshimpressions_photography #tgfgnetwork #peaceeducation #education #fosteringpeace #nigeria #sdg #sdg16 by @tgfgnetwork

In 2015, when the late Muhammadu Buhari got elected for his term as Nigeria’s President, I was serving in Katsina State, Nigeria as part of the mandatory one year National Youth Service scheme for all Nigerian graduates. In the lead up to the elections, I had hoped to participate as an election staff but I was warned by my parents and everyone who knew I was in Katsina at the time, not to participate because I was a girl of Yoruba descent living in Northern Nigeria and in Buhari’s home state no less. It was a high stakes election and if any trouble broke out (as trouble often does break out during elections), they feared I might be one of the first victims. Buhari’s supporters had also surfaced threats of violence. There was palpable tension in the lead up to the elections. Whether or not their fears were founded, I did not have a death wish so I listened to them and I did not sign up to be an election staff. As usual, the elections were marred with irregularities but thankfully, Goodluck Jonathan promptly conceded defeat after Buhari was declared winner, averting any major clash. When I participated closely in elections analysis in 2023, I realized how plainly elections reveal and fan our differences to flame. As the 2027 elections approach, my friends and I at @tgfgnetwork decided to do something to change the narrative around elections starting with the young people we work with and that is why we developed Kójọ and Friends, a narrative style peace education manual to help teenagers know there is another way and to choose peace when confronted with differences. So far, we have reached 240 teenagers with copies but our plan is to reach 10,000 teenagers. The total we are hoping to raise is 7.5 million naira (About 5,600 USD). Will you help us? Meet Adaeze Osakwe, the recently turned 20-year-old founder of Xora-Eco Limited, who is passionate about making renewable energy more efficient and accessible. 🤍 Since her teens, she’s been working towards improving solar panel efficiency and making solar energy more affordable for everyday use, with a vision of seeing it integrated into our infrastructure and electronics. We love seeing young people turn their ideas into solutions that can make a difference. Stories like Adaeze’s remind us why it’s so important to create spaces where young people can share their ideas, showcase their work and inspire others to dream boldly. We’re glad to celebrate young achievers like her and to be part of a community that believes in what young people can do. 🤍 #TGFGN #TeenAchievers #YoungInnovators #RenewableEnergy #youthdevelopment by @tgfgnetwork
