Federal Budget 2026 will be tabled on November 5.

Headlines are easy to find. What matters for your business is the detail: which measures apply to you, when they take effect and what to do about them.

The government has said the budget will build on existing measures, including the new Productivity Mega Deduction for business investment. We'll be reading the fine print as soon as it's released and sharing what business owners should know.

Planning a large purchase or a change to your business before December 31? A quick conversation now can help you decide what to do today and what to hold until the details are clear.

Our office got a little spooky this week 🎃

The TGL team picked up their carving tools for some pumpkin carving fun and the creativity (plus the mess) did not disappoint. We may be better with numbers than knives but we think these turned out pretty well!

Hope you had a spooky Halloween from all of us at TGL Group. 👻

We're not just looking for technical skill, we're looking for people who are curious, care about getting things right and want to be part of a team rather than just show up for a paycheque.

If that sounds like you, whether you're a CPA candidate or an experienced professional considering a change, we'd love to hear from you.

Tax filing is what most people think of first, but business advisory is often where we add the most value.

Thinking through a pricing change, a new hire, or whether to take on a bigger contract? These are the kinds of decisions where having an outside, numbers-informed perspective can make a real difference, not just at year-end, but whenever the decision is actually happening.

If it's been a while since you've asked us "what do you think?" instead of "what do I owe?", we'd love that conversation.

What business decision are you currently considering 🤔? Let us know in the comments!

We're excited to introduce Ashley, who joined the TGL management team this September as a Manager.

Ashley works with privately held businesses across industries like real estate, incorporated professionals and service businesses, providing income tax and business advisory support longside her core accounting and assurance work. She doesn't just help clients with routine filings, but also brings experience in estate planning and CRA dispute resolution, helping them navigate the trickier moments too.

Welcome to the team, Ashley!

Proud to be a title sponsor of IndoHoops Basketball (@indohoopscanada), an initiative that means a lot to us.

Supporting local sports is part of how we try to show up for our community, not just as a
sponsor, but as a firm that actually cares about what happens off the court too.

Drop a comment below of a local initiative that you think TGL should get more involved with!

Sometimes CRA reviews a return after it's already been assessed and issues a Notice of
Reassessment if something changes, whether that's a correction, a new deduction, or additional information they've received.

It's not automatically bad news. But it's always worth reading closely and reaching out to your
accountant if anything looks off.

Have you ever received a Notice of Reassessment? How did you handle it?

It's Small Business Week (October 18–24)!

This week is a good excuse to say something we mean year-round: we love working with small business owners. Watching a business grow from a first-year startup into something established and being part of that journey, is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

To every small business owner we work with and every one we haven't met yet: thank you for the work you put in every day.

We're officially in Q4. A few things worth checking off your list before the year closes:

✅ Have you reviewed your income and expenses for the year so far?
✅ Any large purchases or bonuses better timed before or after December 31st?
✅ Are your books up to date or is there a backlog to clear?
✅ Booked your year-end planning conversation yet?

None of these need to be urgent if you start now. Reach out anytime, we're here to help you
close out the year with a clear picture.

The right to vote wasn't always guaranteed. Many people throughout history fought hard for it and it's one of the most direct ways we get to shape our communities and province.

This October matters, wherever in BC you call home. Local elections are happening across the province on October 17, and BC's provincial election follows on October 24.

Whichever way you vote, we hope you do. Make sure you're registered, find your polling station and make a plan to get out there.
