Luxe, moody, and impossible to resist.

The kind of cocktail bar that calls for a nightcap - Shaken, not stirred, and made to impress. 🍸

Transforming this historic Dallas home has been an incredible experience from start to finish. Our clients set out with a clear vision: preserve the character that made them fall in love with the home, while reimagining it into a space that truly reflects how they live today.

The result is a home that feels entirely renewed—nearly unrecognizable in function and flow—yet still grounded in the timeless details that give it its charm.

This level of transformation doesn’t happen without the right team. We’re grateful to have collaborated with Architect @melvin.e.rodriguez, a talented group of engineers, and interior designer @kcdinteriors to bring this vision to life with the highest standards at every step.

What was once a dark, closed-off kitchen is now a bright, open space at the heart of the home—designed for connection, comfort, and everyday living. taken in Lower Greenville by @tgs.contracting

What a transformation this historic Dallas home has been through! So much history, so many technical details to figure out with our Architect @melvin.e.rodriguez, Engineers, and Builder @tgs.contracting so that we could raise ceilings and move loads safely, within the numbers projected, and within constraints of the strict historic district. 😅

I am endlessly thankful for the skilled, trustworthy, peaceful teams they bring to the table.

The Client’s specifically bought this home instead of some of the other historic homes that were already renovated, so that they could make fully their own.
I went with them before it was even purchased to take a look. It is now nearly unrecognizable aside from the charming historic notes that were left in tact.

The home owner’s style is a hint glamorous and moody, with a few layers of antique delight, blended with the clean and slightly more modern feel you see above. And of course, their favorite color is blue 💙

We’ll be sharing more about this home in the next few weeks—but this breath of fresh air from a once teeeeeny tiny bathroom (that we gutted down to the rafters) makes me smile every time I see it. taken in M Streets, Dallas by @tgs.contracting

A curved cabinet still has to open.

In this Highland Park cocktail bar, the radiused uppers read as metal. They’re wood, finished by our team in faux-patina brass, and fully functional. The curve is the detail. The storage is the proof.

A fireplace can warm a room.
A beautifully crafted fireplace can transform it.

This custom-designed fireplace and mantel combination opened up the space and created a focal point our clients absolutely love.

And then there are the details: like the quartz hearth, where the veining was carefully aligned for a seamless, intentional finish.

Because at The Gold Standard Contracting, craftsmanship isn’t just about how something looks when it’s finished. It’s about taking care of every detail—and taking care of our clients along the way.

The Gold Standard is in the details.

When you take spa days seriously, this is the shower you build.

Walk-through wet room. Dual rain heads. Straight into a soaking tub.

Wellness isn’t an afterthought here. It’s the floor plan.

This wallcovering is Antwerp by Innovations - it’s 97% linen and $200/yard.

When installed correctly, it’s a luxurious material that feels elevated and timeless. Done wrong, it’s a very expensive redo!

This isn’t like standard wallpaper. It reacts to moisture, humidity, and adhesive — which means the wall has to be flawless before the first panel ever goes up.

The non-negotiables:

→ Skim-coat smooth. Every flaw shows through linen.

→ Textile-specific primer, always. Wrong primer = bleed-through stains.

→ Exact paste, exact amount. Too much moisture and natural fiber shrinks or discolors.

→ Room has to acclimate first. No humidity, no exceptions.

The design vision belongs to the design team. Our job? Making sure it’s executed seamlessly — down to the substrate nobody ever sees.

Luxury isn’t just the material. It’s everything invisible that had to go right first.

👉 Follow us @tgs.contracting for the craftsmanship most people never think to ask about. ✨
